  1. Driving up from Glasgow for the game there was no chance this was going ahead.
The council were still out pumping the flooded roads at midday.
Rain was utter awful all night and was still going about 9am.
Aye it's baws but zero complaints with it being off. Part-time team with one groundsman drafting in pals to try get it going was never going to cut it.
The way Clyde fans are acting you'd think we were playing a beast up front or something.

Every other team has managed to get their game on, if you haven’t got the proper staff with the proper experience to get the match on, it reflects poorly on your diddy outfit.
  2. Here's how this works:
    1. A court finds that David Goodwillie is a rapist.
    2. All non scummy clubs don't touch him with a barge pole.
    3. A scummy club touches him.
    4. Its fans fail to boycott their club until he's off the payroll.
    5. Clyde fans therefore fund a rapist.

A civil court that doesn’t have to worry about the burden of proof decided he was a rapist on ‘the balance of probabilities’. For such a serious conviction there should be more evidence required than ‘aye he probably did it’.

Shame trial by pie and Bovril wasn’t an option, as there are so many experts on the case in here...
  3. I'd focus more on your chances against Kelty or Albion Rovers back in the fourth tier next season, rather than an effortlessly superior club that you haven't played on league duty since we flushed you out of the second tier like a floating turd more than a decade ago.

Pretty sure you were using the same shite patter and Ainsley Harriott memes back then too.
  4. Given that in the last year we have had:
    2700 v Annan.
    2400 v Falkirk.
    1800 v Falkirk.
Not to mention a general increase in attendances in League 1 (1000+ v Airdrie/Raith).
    Shares of:
    2200 v Bonnyrigg
    2400 v Partick
    7500 v Celtic.
TV money, cup prize money from two good cup runs.
£16000 raised from donations in the past couple of months.
There's also the statement from earlier in the lockdown that "we will lose less money in the final three months of the financial year by not playing our final eight fixtures".
Let's be honest; we didn't exactly go out and sign particularly extravagant players last summer; players from Annan, Stirling, EKFC.
In January we went out and signed four players, and gave multi-year extensions to two other players. We've just added a sporting director.
Whilst appreciating the uncertainty of next season and the problems that may cause in the future, I'm wondering what on Earth is going on that we've got into this state again.

    Agreed.

You can’t just chuck out a line that we will have one of the lowest budgets in senior football without some explanation. Especially given we have just had the biggest crowds this season in over 10 years.

How are we so far up shitcreek again?
  5. Changing the lower leagues from three 10s to two larger divisions could easily be done for the next again season. What many people objected to was basing this on current standings in hindsight. If it was clearly outlined in advance how this migration would occur then you would know what was at stake and it would all be much fairer.

  6. If it's permanent I don't really get Ross County's problem, always thought it would struggle in the championship, due to most of the clubs despising Scott Gardiner.

Ross county and a few similar clubs seem to be concerned about a lack of meaningful matches once the league splits. They think this will impact on attendances etc. If your team narrowly misses out on 6th after 26 games then the season is essentially over as you are likely to be well clear of the bottom teams.

The answer to that, in my opinion is to make 7th place a potential European slot, or perhaps a play off against 4th for a Europa league slot. That certainly gives these mid table teams something to play for post split.

I also think county should be thinking in terms of survival in the top flight. This would surely be easier in a 14 team league rather than a 12.
  7. The financial element of this is a worry, will some clubs cave and take the £££s given the current climate. Seems the old firm are trying to benefit from this which is pretty underhand.

£125,000 each to join which goes straight to the other third tier clubs. That’s about £15,000 per club. Plus the promise to buy 200 x £15 tickets for every away game. That’s another £6000 based on each arse cheek visiting you once.

Hope clubs stand up to this and it gets shot down. Even if it didn’t directly impact on Clyde there is still no way we should give this the time of day.

  8. Hearts are obviously shitting themselves at being relegated into a league that may not kick off until January. Queens and Ayr already made noises that they can’t play behind closed doors without huge subsidies (that aren’t going to arrive).

However not sure why that has to impact on the lower league structure.

If her proposal was not to relegate hearts and promote top two from championship to make a 14 team top flight that would start (behind closed doors) in August, that almost makes sense.

Leave the lower league as 10-10-10, that’s got f**k all to do with it. We can promote brora and kelty to make up our numbers. Thistle and Stranraer are spared relegation. Falkirk and Edinburgh gain promotion. All 3 lower leagues can aim for an 18 game half season starting in January.

Get your 14-14-14 in the bin.

  9. When they are talking about football by end of July do they mean finishing this seasons premier league behind closed doors?

Or are they actually suggesting next season starting then for all clubs?

On the abstaining issue maybe it was clubs who are represented on the SPFL board eg Brechin. Although it’s a bit late now for them to be behaving honourably.

  10. The guy shows absolutely no leadership whatsoever, other countries governing bodies have just decided what’s happening and that’s it. Here it’s put to a vote to deflect blame.

Also, he’s on something like 330k a year plus a 90k bonus. How can the spfl pay him that sort of money but can’t give clubs money to ensure existence. It stinks.

    Nail on the head here.

Get him punted and get that £330K plus cash funnelled to clubs struggling to survive this crisis.

If the best interests of the clubs were really of so much concern to him he would have taken a hefty pay cut already.
  11. If the top flight doesn’t want to expand then leave them to it. Hearts down Dundee United up.

We could still easily promote 2 and relegate none in the other 3 divisions. Creating a 12-12-10-10.

Whilst this wouldn’t be ideal financially from my own clubs point of view (losing Falkirk and thistle fixtures) I think sporting wise it’s the fairest solution.

It would also allow the pyramid to function by allowing up kelty and brora.

The extra cash share for these 2 clubs should come directly out of Doncaster £350k plus salary.
