  1. Australia are into the tail now unless Broad can turn the clock back 10 or so years!
  2. For the sorta fee being discussed I think McMenamin should be an automatic first team pick (like Aitken & Charnley}) - straightaway. Given that he's coming from a League that is a sorta FT/PT hybrid I don't think this will be the case and I don't think we should be paying more than a nominal fee for him - say £10-20k.
  3. 25 years is short term for these guys. I'd say nowadays they've got the same relevance as Morris Dancers - although sadly they retain the obnoxious element from the bygone days of yore.
  4. ....and today's award for the most one-sided post goes to Johnny Martin!
  5. SR might not have time to discuss Stubbsy's failure at our club but we forumsters certainly do. However I'm signing off for now as I have to continue with my son's education - I 'm about to introduce him to The Godfather.
  6. OMG - I'm about to make a post sorta defending Stubbsy! The problem with Stubbsy's philosophy was that he "threw the baby out with the bathwater" in terms of destroying the morale of our 17/18 Championship winning team. If you look at the last two matches of his tenure (against Hertz & Livi) we started with 5 of his EPL Academy acquisitions which is 4 too many. That market is still a decent one for a club of our stature though - look at Thierry Small last season. As an aside - Oran Kearney!
  7. That's a bit of bad news, the one thing I liked about the Bolton deal was that it was gonna be completed early in the window, the pessimist in me now fears a last day exit for Baccus with it being too late to get a quality replacement.
  8. Fair enough my post was a bit OTT - i've just finished a run on N/S but just because we won a watch on the Brophy deal it doesn't mean we should give it away on buying McMenamin for the reasons given a few pages back. Given the speculated fee I still feel that I still think he has the potential to be right up there in terms of bad signings although Josh Heaton is maybe out of reach.
  9. A good age (20) for us to be signing him as there is clearly scope for development. In contrast I am less happy at the prospect of signing signing McMenamin who is 27 and still playing in a League which can't be entirely Full-Time - IMO he's 5/6 years too old for us to take the gamble.
  10. The Fury I feel for only getting 9/110 is driving me Mad. As an aside I'm sure we've had the Red Admiral question quite recently although I do do (sic) other trivia quizzes - I got it wrong the last time..
  11. I can see the company filing for bankruptcy.
  12. Still potentially 16.4 overs to go, will England risk more MTC points in order to avoid a massive score against them - what's the situation on floodlights?
  13. Classic Test Match error from England - I expect Australia to push for 500+ before they even think of declaring. ************ On a funnier note when will they ever learn, England Leg-end Ian Bell attempt at trash-talking (an essential part of Bazball) looks a bit less convincing now than it did at 10:30am. England have psychological grip on Australia says Ian Bell
  14. On N/S, had a quick cheque @Ric @Arch Stanton at breakfast (sic) then 8 hours later we've moved on 8 pages - never a dull moment!
  15. Her body may well be a-moulderin' in the grave but Mrs. Ts legacy just keeps on a-givin with news that Thames Water (in particular) & the other companies are in financial trouble.... Mounting debts and public anger could finally sink UK water companies | Water | The Guardian
  16. Yeah, but what does that have to do with closed record shops in Paisley?
  17. Stereo 1 had a second store in Johnstone before t'internet decimated CD sales. Ooops I see you already mentioned that.
  18. I always like walking along St. Jamesy's St. on the way to the ground.
