Coffee 4 weeks into a doctor imposed 6 week alcohol free period. Disappointingly I am finding it rather easy.

The P & B Beer, Lager, Ale, Stout and Cider Guide
TheLip69 replied to Zizou-5's topic in The General Nonsense Forum
Camra's chairman didnt make himself too popular with some of his members after his performance. Camra have always been about preserving pubs and pub culture but refusing to recognise, or give credence to, craft beer was a shot in the foot as far as some people were concerned. Honestly,my twitter feed is full of blogs from brewers and breweries and quite a few are a bit pissed with his performance. -
Fair play mate, but I never got the feeling I was watching something special when I watched Wee Dick's team. My Dad always said the Rangers side of the early sixties was the best. I think Stein took it to another level though, the fact that they dominated at a time when our league was, arguably, at its strongest speaks for itself. I was fortunate enough to be watching a lot of football at that time, my formative years.

Having ran pubs in Manchester for years that generalisation of Camra members is utter nonsense One of my pubs used to get a few of them in fairly regularly, depending on which guest ales I had on. Contrary to what you would expect they are fairly delighted at the upsurge in Craft/Real Ales and embrace it wholeheartedly. They will tell you that only a few years ago they used to get together and arrange outings to pubs which had decent ales. Now there are so many on their doorstep that outings have become a rarity. Manchester is brilliant for the craft ale scene, micro breweries all over the place and small bars cropping up everywhere. I cant remember the last time I was in a pub belonging to one of the major chains. I haven't seen a Fosters pump in months. -
Got Bridge of Spies DVD yesterday. Enjoyed it, but not as much as I thought I would. Slightly disappointed but no idea why. Weird.

League reconstruction: Let's hear your view
TheLip69 replied to Mr Bairn's topic in Scottish Football - Fans' Views
The SPFL has produced clubs that have knocked both Celtic and Rangers out of cups in recent years. It would be an accomplishment if this were 20 or 30 years ago, nowadays it's par for the course with these two. There's a tendency for people to assume Rangers and Celtic are bigger than they actually are, I don't understand that. -
Believe it or not this "Psychological Slavery" was used to explain how the bigger clubs in Italian Football managed to get the decisions. Of course this was before the shit hit the fan a few years ago and knocked it on the head. Try reading a book called Calcio, a history of Italian Football, written by Michael Foote's grandson. Cracking read.

Hopefully the rumour about the Premiership going to 16 next season is true, bringing Hibs, Falkirk and Rangers all back into the top level,as well as saving Dundee Utd, can only be good for the game. -
The Hateful Eight, thought it was terrific. I like Tarantino's movies. They may not be to everyone's taste but they are right up my street. I just sit back and say "Entertain me Quentin" and he hasn't let me down yet. I rated this one higher than Pulp Fiction. 9/10
