The Fife v The Rose (13 April)
sneed hearn replied to Beachcomber's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
Terrible conditions but the game was won by attitude.Bonnyrigg’s was great ,East Fife deplorable. Not one East Fife player got pass marks.Second to every ball. Full credit to Bonnyrigg , worked their socks off and played the conditions. 4 - 1 flattered East Fife. -
East Fife v Stranraer (Sat 23/3)
sneed hearn replied to Beachcomber's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
I hope Stranraer stay up if for nothing else than the excellence of their tv service.Especially like the 2 commentators who are biased but in a nice way. Their love of Stranraer fc comes through. -
East Fife v Stranraer (Sat 23/3)
sneed hearn replied to Beachcomber's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
Thought we would be spared George Calder after his refereeing against Peterhead but no. Still useless, the missed foul on Trouten in the penalty box summed him up. -
What a strange thing football management is. Greig MacDonald was clearly a decent, intelligent guy who would have worked his socks off for the club.Yet it didn't work out and the outcome was inevitable. The players should be taking a long hard look at themselves.

The Fifers' v The Blue Toon 20/1

Hope never to see George Calder referee another game. There is something wrong with Scottish football when we have to use him as a referee. -
Dumbarton V East Fife 6/1/2024
sneed hearn replied to Silverton End's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
Greig McDonald has been under severe criticism recently. It was a badly needed win which really needs to be built on. Yesterday, however no one could say the players didn’t play for him. Nathan Austin has influenced plenty of games with goals but I doubt if he has ever worked harder for the team than yesterday. Thought we defended well particularly late on when Dumbarton kept putting crosses in.Would have been more comfortable if we had taken any of the 3 or 4 chances on the break.Brogan Walls’ runs from midfield caused Dumbarton problems throughout. Hard to explain why we haven’t seen this level more often. -

Clyde v East Fife
sneed hearn replied to Glorious Purpose's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
A great win.Badly needed by everybody.Fans ,players, management and directors after a dreadful 3 weeks. Surprised just how poor Clyde were. East Fife now need to kick on. -
Greig MacDonald is getting it in the neck and impossible to defend after that result. He has never really found a system to suit the players we have. However in my opinion the major blame lies with the players. The manager picked the same team that played really well in beating Stranraer. There is no excuse for that result. Looking at the wider picture, the last three years have been disastrous.Frankly ,while the Board are East Fife men they seem to be presiding over a managed decline.

East Fife v Forfar (30/09/23)
sneed hearn replied to ForfarLoon84's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
An awful game but Forfar we’re the better team though it took a Fleming mistake for the equaliser. He has saved East Fife plenty of times and one of the few who has played well this season. East Fife we’re really poor and it says it all that 37 year old Alan Trouten was our hardest working player. -
Think the team with the best manager are favourites. He should have been back at East Fife.
-
Cowden we’re the better team for 75 minutes ans should have been several goals ahead. The whole East Fife team were miles off it.

The Arbroath Thread
sneed hearn replied to Lichtie78's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
Originally a centre back. With St Johnstone as a youth.Switched to right back a dozen or so games ago with success.Always gives a 100%.Tall ,powerful player who is a goal threat from corners and has a great long throw. Has pace over anything over 5 yards. A big step up for him but has the attitude to succeed. -
Good luck to Albion Rovers.

Well done Darren Young.

The Arbroath Thread

He is an attacking midfielder who can also play on the wing.A big loss to an East Fife team in dire straits. -
Any prospective manager watching yesterday would instantly withdraw their application. What a mess East Fife are in.Somehow we had a good start and amassed a decent number of points.Thar was the time to get experienced players in .Yes there aren’t as many about as normal but even a couple of journeymen would have helped. Instead we sign untried 18 year olds. There was little criticism of the youngsters yesterday, there are 2 or 3 very talented ones. This slump is not a surprise and frankly no manager is going to be able to make any great improvement till the next transfer window. There has been a massive misjudgement of what is needed at Board and previous manager level.

Given the financial difficulties at the time,Gary Naysmith’s winning the league was a significant managerial achievement.

Draw would have been fairer but a great result for an East Fife team with 6 young players in the line up.Slater was good for Forfar and Flanagan caused problems but the strikersdidn’t offer much.

Fair credit to you.
