  1. Everyone is better than Chelsea, m8.
  2. Doing the shore walk at Carron Valley Reservoir with Mrs p and we saw three ospreys flying above the reservoir and trees, apparently they are there regularly. Didn't have the required quality of camera unfortunately; if only @sugna had been with us.
  3. I'd be more than happy to sign Iain Russell tbh.
  4. Really enjoyed the road championships, didn't really watch anything else. The race yesterday was as good a women's one as I've seen, with the strongest rider eventually prevailing with everyone else giving their all and just falling short. Lizzie Deignan rode a brilliant race tactically, but just didn't have the miles in her legs at the end. It was also great to see so many people out watching the road events both in Glasgow, Stirling and along the routes. TV coverage also did a great job of showing Scotland off. Great event and maybe we can get another major road race here again before too long. Oh, and a mention for young Scot Anna Shackley for picking up bronze in the U23 category.
  5. When you say "by all accounts" do you mean just your mate? Stirling were the better team yesterday and if any team deserved to win it was them, but in no universe did they batter Alloa or could have won by 3-0. They had two shots on target and four in total. They will likely give you a good game next Tuesday. You should be very happy with any sort of win.
  6. That's exactly what you said though. Stirling weren't poor today either, they were well organised, defended well, moved the ball about neatly (knew where their team mates were) and were lively up front. Calling them "poor" sounds like sour grapes.
  7. I can see that opinion, but to be fair to Cannon he did just as well in his short time on the pitch as Sammon and Rodden combined. I was more pissed that having largely wasted Wee Kev at wing back (again) he hauled him off when he could contribute so much in an central attacking position.
  8. Stirling look a decent side to me, as their results so far this season would seem to confirm.
  9. Can't disagree with any of this, Stirling the better side. Concerning how many soft goals we are giving away, gaps in the centre of defence and penalties. Why do we keep shelling the ball forwards when we have no one to hold it?
  10. Aye. Most folk were of course great and up for a laugh. Other highlight was Alan Rough asking me about the different races. Tried to explain the Mixed TTT Relay to him, but not sure he got it. He was pleasant though.
  11. Speaking of which, I was volunteering on a crossing at Buchanan Street/Gordon Street yesterday, in the morning when it was just circuit familiarisation. Several people weren't happy they couldn't actually cross Buchanan Street itself there. A few angry "sh*tes" and "f*****g jokes" were muttered. Then one wee guy stuck his finger in my face and aggressively informed me "these are our streets, no' yours ya b*****d!". Proceeded to march up the correct way then hopped the barriers at both sides, giving the second one a good kick, before leaving me with a stare and a "ya p***k".
  12. So basically nothing of relevance to the current situation and any argument Alloa are currently pricey.
  13. What bit isn't English already/do you not understand?
  14. I think it's just "football fans in being idiots" shocker. I'm not even sure the pricing for a league game is out of order. What do Stirling charge?
  15. It's now the young team's kids who are the young team.
  16. I'm thinking of cycling out to there for the Women's race on Sunday. Good place to watch it?
  17. "Get the baw up the pitch!" "Get rid of it!" Two of Pep's favourite coaching phrases. Yeah, normally I stick up for the ref and assistants (mainly because they are right nine times out of ten), but this certainly happens quite regularly. I suspect it's an unofficial instruction to avoid fans screaming that the ball is out when it's only, say, 80% over the line.

  19. Rodden is very quick. A slower player and McKay might have had time to snuff out the danger. Big credit to Rodden for the way he pounced on the ball, drove forward and finished IMO, especially given he hadn't scored since last year and was under pressure to get among the goals again.
