I'm generally not one for wanting the board to come out and speak

PH drives the bus and has the biggest impact by far on what league we're in and what our future holds. Everyone should want to hear from him and take an interest in how our club is run as it still rankles me that our fan representative on the board was ditched after a short period of time.

You need that leadership both in the dugout and on the pitch though which is the problem. Being able to have a broader view RE tactics allows you to actually manage a game, make appropriate tactical and personnel changes, see out or regain leads and win games which is what breeds a winning mentality and strong resilience. A good manager will also sign good leaders and players who are a bit streetwise and ‘cute’, which we don’t really have at all. Being a leader on the park is also very different to managing a squad of players but we have no distinction between the two at all.

The Devenny for Deveney like-for-like sub was laughable. I like Devenny but that substitution wasn’t going to claw the game back for us. Maybe they’re not any good but you’ve got two forwards on the bench in Salim and Dixon. We’re already 3-1 down, just chuck them on and go for it. So much for McCabe’s mantra… But the fact they didn’t come on today or in similar circumstances in other games is a worry. We’re not that far away from either of them having to play in the event of injuries or suspensions.

A concern for me is how many of those January signings are intended to be part of any long-term plans? Jay Riley’s not good enough, Joe Dixon has obviously been deemed as not good enough or at best not ready and Bright is only 17 and more of an internet cult figure than he is part of the squad. Has Big Byrd really come from Australia just to sit on Airdrie’s bench for only half a season? We haven’t seen a lot of him but he’s very much in the unconvinced pile for me. Add in Wylie, McMaster, Henderson and Lyness and it hardly bodes well for a McCabe rebuild in either division next season. His best players are the ones who were already here and his best signings were ones any of us could have identified - Ballantyne, Rae and Jamieson - and even then all three of them have come with caveats. I suppose ATS and Deveney have turned out decent. But if you wanted to be harsh are both of them really good enough either? A definite worry considering a lot of our better players will go if/when we don’t get promoted (again).

We must remember that not all pre-season signings were McCabe's and as mentioned previously, we are hoping unearth some young talent to make the club viable although it's fair to say that's not looking likely at the moment.

Neither know nor care what Hutton said about McCall. Fact is he's a man who gets performances and results from a football team and that's what matters. If we were employing people based on them being of  good character I don't think Hutton would be anywhere near us.

Ok, take away Hutton's comments and he's still odious cretin who barefaced lied to all Airdrie fans in the famous Town Hall night, he should never be forgiven and i will never forget.

I’d be delighted if we got Jamieson back. Not sure how much of a game he’s getting at St Mirren? But I can’t think of any scenario in which I’d rather play any of Salim, Dixon or McGregor (through the middle) upfront than Jamieson. As I said above, if any of our current front three are out for an extended period of time we’re snookered. Looking forward to playing the play-off final with Janny, Dixon and Dom Kavanagh as the front three.

Jamieson looks to have played 11 minutes since his return to St Mirren so it does look a possibility and given that St Mirren's financial position isn't great perhaps they will be happy to offload.

Well it's part 2 of the Dunfermline double header and confidence must have taken a hit and anything we get tomorrow will be a bonus. Team selection we know will change as Smith is missing who's work rate and pace will be badly missed and I would expect Stanway to come into the starting 11 to replace him with a tweak in the formation. I would also expect Watson to come in for ATS.

    Glad Rhys listened!

Yeah, I said it on the match thread but while Hutton had his moment today, I think bringing someone in seems sensible. We at least need someone to cover the bench, as you can never rule out Hutton doing something mad and getting sent off, but I can see us bringing in a young keeper on an emergency loan for the week. It’s a gamble either way.

There can’t be too many times a keeper has been booked two games in a row, sent off in one and debatably should have been sent off in the other. Hutton must be rubbing off on him.

Get Muzz back on emergency loan

The score could genuinely be anything, not just tomorrow but in all our games. It's frustrating but like you say, we were excellent for an hour last week and showed we can get a result tomorrow. I think Dunfermline will win but I'd be happy with a draw and then a win at home v Falkirk next week.

In reality we're in a mini league of 5 fighting for 2 play off slots. I'm still confident we will make it comfortably but a little fearful of the next 2 games, followed by a tricky away fixture to QOS that we don't slump into a rut.

funny feeling we'll pick up 2 points from the next 3 games.

If we can come out of the next 3 games still in the top 4 then I'd be reasonably happy as after that there is, on paper, a favourable run of fixtures.

Confidence after last Saturday is all important but we shouldn't forget we were excellent in the first half.

    Absolute rubbish.

I assume you weren't at any games at the start of the season because he was one of our best players. Also you say he hardly featured but he has played 21 times in the league and started almost every game until the more experienced telfer came in. Not to mention the fact that he's still only 19.

He wasn't good on Saturday but to completely write him off based on that is just bizarre.

Early season, he was on fire and looked at real prospect but it's fair to say his progress has stalled and looks nowhere near the starting 11 at the moment. Lets hope he can regain his confidence and progress further, and absolutely way to early to write him off.
