  1. I have no strong opinion about that ammunition depot and its significance, but one thing that I think is obvious is that the Ukrainians have been dropping heavy hints for a while that they want to be invited into Moldova: Transnistria has been sitting there for decades waiting for a Russian leader to do what Vlad did. Getting rid of it makes Odessa and what remains of their Black Sea coastline significantly more secure for the Ukrainians.
  2. Much the same happened with an oligarch called Mikhail Khodorkovsky about 20 years back. It's just Vlad's way of saying don't do what this guy did because you don't actually live in a liberal democracy even though there are presidential elections or a free market economy even though there are many of the trappings of western capitalism. If you fail to grasp that and act like you do the consequences of rocking the boat can be very unpleasant.
  3. Things might be getting interesting in Moldova with the change in leadership there: There's a lot of talk at the moment that the Ukrainians are running low on ammunition. Transnistria has a huge depot filled with Soviet era weaponry just over a weakly defended border from Ukraine so the Detournement types are getting nervous:
  4. All it needs now is for Luncarty, Kinnoull and Jeanfield to do a flit and the old Tayside region of the SJFA is back. No idea how likely that is but it would make a two division format easier than 10-10 would be, which is one abeyance or promotion away from a division that is clearly too small.
  5. Memories are becoming hazy given that's almost 50 years ago but they had a huge support in the Celtic end from what I remember from being there. Stonehouse Violet made it to Hampden back in that era. There used to be a lot more variety before Talbot started to appear regularly in the finals from the mid-80s onwards.
  6. Guess they could always go back to being Jubilee Athletic again, but is this new ground not easy walking distance from Rosyth's railway station?
  7. Bridge of Don Thistle talked about having a new stadium as part of a housing development at one point. That might have been licensing related but doubt it's happening any time soon. The clubs that joined the Aberdeenshire FA, i.e. Dyce, Hermes, Stonehaven and Aberdeen Uni , are maybe the ones to keep an eye on. There has been some talk on here that Dyce have already ticked all the boxes.
  8. Think those results and the number of games in hand Carnoustie Panmure have in a Midlands League context mean Strathspey Thistle will almost certainly be playing in the Highland League again next season.
  9. Igor thinks Russia has almost shot its bolt on the latest offensive: Belongs in The Hague but he usually calls these things close to what ultimately happens.
  10. ...or maybe the second Johnston from last week is from Miami Vice?
  11. ...automatic promotion for EoS and WoS champions = issue solved. Problem is all the blazer politics needed to accomplish that.
  12. Big enough capacity for a semi that could also draw in neutrals? Sadly probably yes these days.
  13. God forbid someone on a football board would be upset about football games not being played.
  14. I am not massively bothered either way on constitutional politics so all that really sticks in the mind at this point is her cynical behavior during COVID. We are keeping schools and workplaces open that are high risk to stop the ecoonomy from imploding so we are not actually going to be able to stop this wave in its tracks but lets kid on we are trying to by banning low risk outdoor activities like lower league fitba while letting bible bashers go to church indoors because I pure hated Arthur Montford and Scotsport when I was a bairn or whatever....
  15. Would be interesting to see how many fans East Craigie would attract to an SJC final. Could still be Cumnock vs Glenafton though...
  16. Potentially up to 142 with 137 of those at Newtown Park once you factor in Bo'ness FC as well.
  17. Same info from The Times was tweeted by this account linked to the Belarusian opposition movement that predates last year's invasion: Given Challenger tank approval preceded moves elsewhere on Leopards and Abrams that may or may not be significant.
  18. ^^^Vuhledar where all the Russian armour was lost is the context of this.
