  1. "Get in the hole!!!" for former Ryder Cup player and one time Open runner up Gordon J Brand. https://www.europeantour.com/european-tour/news/articles/detail/gordon-j-brand-1955-2020/
  2. On the changing room issue, golf clubs were allowed to resume play on 29th May, and despite clubhouse bars being allowed to open last month, locker rooms are still closed with no clear idea of when we will be allowed to use them again. In the case of most clubs there are rarely more than a handful of guys in the locker room at any given time, and it's usually just for a quick change of shoes and lift your golf bag out your locker. I don't see any way that football ground changing rooms will be getting used any time soon either. Not a completely unsolvable problem, as the GCC facilities that are open are functioning without changing facilities with players turning up ready to play. Social distancing for most clubs inside the ground with normal crowds won't be a problem, but the biggest pinch points will be things like toilets and pie stalls. The elephant in the room though is that the only reason the SPFL will be up and running is down to players bring tested, thanks to a hefty donation from outwith the game. I would doubt any club at our level would be willing to pay a grand a week for testing. Any indicative date for crowds in grounds sadly has little bearing on when we might start, and given the fact that the government has pushed back almost every date anyway, I wouldn't be all that confident of even limited crowds being let in in September. If there are limited crowds, that would be a huge problem for club's income at our level, no crowds at all then I can't see how we could restart.
  3. Aye, he was mister consistent without being spectacular, but he has struggled for form going back for a year or so now.
  4. 6-2 at the end of the session, hope Williams can keep it up.
  5. Good start by McGill, going 2-0 up. No stereotyping with Maflin's nickname, didn't take some genius long to come up with "The Viking" for a Norwegian player.
  6. It's an astounding start to his career and last night's win lifts him up to 5th in the rankings, with considerably fewer counting events than those above him, he only has 40 while No1 Rahm has 51, Thomas and McIlroy 49, and DJ 45. Robert MacIntyre holds on to his 81st spot, Calum Hill next best Scot at 168th, while Russell Knox continues on what looks like a sad neverending downward spiral at 187th. Read an article at the weekend about the long hitters, and a couple of contributers to the article both reckoned Finau would hit it further than anyone if he wanted to. His average driving distance is 307 off of what is barely a 3/4 backswing, he chooses not to swing harder as he thinks he has the right balance between distance and accuracy. Rahm is another who seems to be keeping a fair bit in reserve with the big stick. Seemingly Finau regularly gets 200mph ball speed in practice, but doesn't even try for that on the course.
  7. There's quite a few players that Wick would have been an apt place of birth.
  8. Oh Lordy. [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]
  9. The last SFA update specifically mentioned mid October as an earliest date for playing matches.
  10. He's been finishing consistently high up the leaderboards ever since turning pro, he made the cut in his first 22 events, only Tiger had a better run at the start of his career making 25. The US Open was the only major he qualified for last year, and that was as an amateur, turning pro not long after. He secured his tour card for this year after about 3 events, then won the next one. Including last night he has now won almost $7 million in little over a year.
  11. The thing that should worry everybody else was how unflappable Morikawa looked coming down the stretch. There's always an elenent of luck to a chip in, but hardly anybody had hit the green with their drive on 16, far less stick it to 12 feet or so. His one bad shot was on 18 but he got away with it. I've said on here before how impressed I've been by him, thought he looked far better than Hovland and Wolff when they all came on tour last year. Fair play to Wolff for coming so close, and I'm no lover of Casey, but you have to feel a bit of sympathy for him hitting 66 and being just as far away from the leader as he was at the start of the day.
  12. You know it's meant to be your day when you hit your approach on the last nowhere near where you meant to, and it lands 15 feet from the hole.
  13. What a drive by Morikawa into 16.
  14. Wolff goes from -4 to -9 in the space of 4 holes.
  15. 2 majors, 2 cuts made. Only gets about $20k prize money this week though, ranking points much more important. Don't know what his plans are but I'm sure his original intention was to stay in the US until the US Open at Winged Foot in September.
  16. Yep, and I'm sure they changed a par 5 to a par 4 for this, with the par 5s reachable in 2 for most of the field.
  17. I've never played Hanbury Manor. It could be a fine golf course for all I know. What is apparent is that it's far too easy for what is a fairly mediocre European Tour field this week, with 45 players -10 or better. Andy Sullivan leading by 5 going up the 15th on 26 under. Scott Jamieson, Ewen Ferguson and Connor Syme the best placed Scots.
  18. Interesting article about Jeff Hart who went 77-77 in the first two rounds. Gives a bit of insight into what it's like to play a major when you struggle to drive it 250 yards. https://golf.com/instruction/jeff-hart-pga-championship-tpc-harding-park/
  19. I don't have Sky at the moment so I am watching a live feed online which has only ever broke away from the action to show the leaderboard. Can anybody translate Dutch for me?
  20. Saw this tweet earlier which hits the nail on the head as far as the US coverage goes.
