Great cross in by Aubrey, glancing header by McManus at the near post. How is that a fluke? As already mentioned, great diagonal ball controlled brilliantly by Kearney, cross in and header by Paterson. Might have been a slight deflection on the cross but hardly bizarre.

The wind has dropped noticeably in the last hour or so, hopefully drops a bit more before kick off time.

What was very noticeable last night, was that even during a game as tight as that with 2 of the biggest names in the tourney, from 10.30 pm onwards there was a steady stream of punters getting their jackets on and fecking off home.

It's the inconsistency that annoys me, they have decided that any handball by an attacking player that leads to a goal is a foul, but defenders still have to either handle it intentionally or have their hands in an "unnatural" position to be penalised. It used to be that the attacking team would get the benefit of any doubt, but with the new handball law and offside being policed to 1mm by VAR, we've gone full circle.

Can only think he and his lawyer haven't discovered Twitter yet, their postage bill will be astronomical when they do. The worst thing about it all is he genuinely sees himself as some sort of victim in all this.

Usual mayhem at the South African Open in Jo'burg. Because they use 2 courses there was a huge field of 240, which will be cut to the usual 70 plus ties for the weekend. The lead is currently -9, with the cut projected to be -4. Connor Syme is best placed Scot, just birdied the 16th to move within 1 of the leaders.

Last year's tbf, but I've never been convinced that the bit with Nick Mullins had been edited in any way.

I've watched the BDO for over 30 years and don't think the standard has ever been as poor as it is this year in both the men's and women's tourneys. There has been the odd match where one or both players has played well in parts but I haven't seen anybody play consistently well through a whole match yet. Ryan Hogarth got scudded 4-0 this afternoon by Jim Williams, with Williams averaging 94.36.
