  1. That's an awful lot of claims without a single source. I do like that it says that Ukraine produces 75,000 tonnes of bees. It may have meant to say "beer" but I'm now picturing some poor chap having to coral the bees to get them weighed. E.T.A replying to @Florentine_Pogen, but didn't want to quote the whole thing.
  2. That's a hell of a gestation period. Is she some sort of cetacean?
  3. Che Adams having quite the season in front of goal. Very pleasing.
  4. I watched the first and second series. I didn't warm to the character of Mrs Maisel at all, and the reason for her husband leaving was badly done imo, but I could have watched a whole series of just her parents. Some of her dad's lines had me pressing pause as I'd be helpless with laughter.
  5. Short Haired police cadet far Maryhill. The second verse is "short arsed shuggy fae shettleston" The song I had in mind was his version of "ten guitars" by Engelbert Humperdinck. Or obviously his famous parody of D.I.V.O.R.C.E which topped the charts and kept Tammy Wynette's original off the top .
  6. We had that too. Very weird. They weren't even particularly good, but they always looked cheery They were all about 16 too, and you'd get the lads up the back giving it "get yer tits oot" etc. Every week.
  7. I think this is a really good observation and I would agree with it. I can see the reason the writers included it, but I found it largely quite boring. I confess to loving the monologues in the first punisher series though, I'd watch Bernthal reading the phone book tbf. Excellent actor.
  8. We used to come out to the Banana Split tune, which was utterly fucking weird, but I missed it when it changed. I'm not a fan of goal music for internationals, but clubs using songs from local bands (do Dunfermline still come out to The Skids?) or songs which have an otherwise strong connection to the club (Sunshine on Leith is a wonderfully idiosyncratic example) is fine. I'd take "The boy with the arab strap" by Belle and Sebastian.
  9. Oh I'm not going to argue about Defenders. It's not great, and Iron Fist was widely panned. I myself didn't watch it as I couldn't give a monkeys about the character. I don't agree about JJ series 1 or 3 (I didn't watch 2) mainly as it wasn't my experience, I didn't find myself thinking the conversations were a waste of time. They let us get to know the characters a bit more and sometimes provided opportunities for the story to breathe a bit. You had said "each netflix marvel series" and I thought you were referring to the ones in my post; The Punisher and Daredevil. Saying that these should have been shorter would have made them feel very rushed indeed. E.T.A I also mentioned Luke Cage. I'll give you that, especially the first series.
  10. I was thinking the very same thing last night. There is a crowd funder for a big flag display, and it would be great if it was used for this.
  11. Rangers'defensive shape has been great too. They're cigaring this now. P.S. I fucking love Ryan Jack
  12. One of these Rangers counter attacks is absolutely guaranteed to yield another goal.
  13. This is fucking bonkers. If he has to look at it so many times then just fucking give the goal. Never a foul in a billion years.
  14. I only started watching at 39 mins but for that last bit Dortmund were repeatedly attacking Rangers' right hand side, and getting a lot of joy. Not sure what Gio can do to stop that tbh. Did I have a weird fever dream or are away goals no longer a thing?
  15. Aye you're right. I think the figure quoted was about £30m, which sounds fanciful tbh.
  16. What photo-editing app did you use to remove the crowd from this pic? Really clever work .
  17. Loved this show. Bally-k was quality too. Larkrise and Candleford for the absolute win though.
  18. This was the first show I thought about when I saw this thread. After about series 1 it was clear that he was using the FBI to essentially just kill his enemies, and I couldn't take seriously the idea that they wouldn't just fling him in jail after a short while. James Spader's charisma had me watching longer than I would otherwise have (see also Meghan Markle in Suits). Lizzie's actress becoming pregnant, I think, forced the writers to derail the original storyline to fit in Lizzie being pregnant and the show became convoluted.
  19. Apparently now wanted by Barcelona to replace Jordi Alba in the summer (when both he and KT are out of contract). I'd be super excited at him playing for Barca, but I'm obviously feart he ends up on the bench (I dare say that says more about me than KT). What do you reckon he should do? Stay or try his hand in Spain/Catalunya?
  20. This is the crux of the argument I was making. The characterisation of critics of the introduction of ethnically diverse dwarves and elves as racist is unfair as a lot if the criticism I've heard is grounded in the integrity of the world built by its creator. I'd be interested to hear how you enjoy it.
  21. Fair enough mate. I haven't read him at all. I was just objecting to the sneering characterisation of Tolkein fans as being out of order for being miffed at their beloved work having the ethnicity of characters changed as the ones I had listened to had provided justification based on the works themselves. I have read plenty of other fantasy and if you do change certain things (like the ethnicity of a character, especially without explanation based on the rules of the world inhabited) you compromise the integrity of the world in which the characters are set.
  22. The Punisher is one of my favourite ever series. As 54 says, the action is brutal at times, but it's supposed to be. I think we're supposed to be confronted with the consequences of turning men into weapons and then not taking care to help them become human beings again. The way the show uses the "therapy" group to anchor this is outstanding. Bernthal is fantastic and the chemistry between him and David is a real grounding and emotional relationship. Some proper laughs too. The second series is mostly shite though and really didn't need to be made. Luke Cage is probably the worst thing about Luke Cage as Mike Colter is a rubbish actor, probably not helped by having the sublime Mahershalla Ali opposite him. It's great though, the cinematography makes everything look grimy and dark. The series with the Jamaican lads in it I found to be a bit hit and miss. The antagonist is superb and really well played by one of the most handsome men I've ever seen. Alfre Woodard's character gets involved in a romantic relationship that, on paper might have looked good but in reality it felt very, very forced and awkward. Daredevil is sublime. Series 3 is the weaker, but only by hair's breadth. Vincent D'Onoffrio Marlon Brandos his way through both series 1 and 3, chewing up every single scene. Christ he actually makes him sympathetic, especially in series 1. Because of this Charlie Cox's performance goes under the radar a bit. He's a wonderful actor and this character is as complex as it gets (blind martial artist from working class background who becomes very good lawyer and vigilante PI all the while keeping the hero part a secret) and he immerses himself into it fully. Defenders I thought was pish mainly because of Iron Fist. A superhero it's hard to relate to and played really shabbily by whomever the f**k plays him. I felt that all the actors kinda phoned it in a bit here, even Kristen Rytter looked like she was going through the motions. Just find a synopsis of this to get yourself caught up before you watch Daredevil series 3. Jessica Jones series 3 is absolutely thrilling. Seeing as you asked .
