    It feels like fake enthusiasm. Murray Walker was enthusiastic but it came across as genuine. I'm not sure who's worse, James Allen or "Crofty"

    I'm in a similar boat - drink too much especially at weekends. When I'm driving in the morning I don't drink the night before and don't miss it one bit. Just habit - one I need to change. I'm at the stage where I wake up feeling rotten and a headache can last all day.

    Also Len Deighton's Bernie Sampson books. These are fictional spy books but the main character was raised in postwar Berlin (his dad was the Berlin station chief). Actually these (nine) books are brilliant regardless of the setting; best spy books I have ever read.

    My uncle was a painter and decorator. He wallpapered my mum's house, and in the living room put the wallpaper up horizontally. It is striped wallpaper and really elongates the look of the room. It's brilliant; no way could I ever hope to do that.

    A worker at the Nestlè factory was trapped for 3 hours under a pallet of chocolate after colleagues ignored his cries for help. Apparently every time he called out the “milky bars are on me “ they just clapped and cheered .
