  1. Because he loses the same type of goal all the time. Low daisy cutting shots that he doesn't get down to in time.
  2. Israel have had a weird few days catching up from last month. Beaten in Kosovo then sneaked a late equaliser to the Swiss tonight. Need 6 points from their final two games. Must beat Romania on Saturday in Hungary to stand a chance. However if they do, it opens up half a chance as they have Andorra on the final day while Romania play Switzerland.
  3. Probably because he's not good enough for the level we need to compete at
  4. If we could string some consistent wins together, we'd pull away from the pack. Anyway it's been a tough domestic season for us fans so let's enjoy tonight. Dandies min.
  5. You really do wonder at what point Sunak and Starmer will start to push the Israelis and Hamas to call a ceasefire. Not that either will make an iota of difference as Netanyahu is hellbent on destroying Gaza and they are both totally irrelevant on the world stage. However, for both UK party leaders to sit idly by and watch what is happening to innocent civilians is abhorrent and shameful. Obviously the Tories will dog whistle to any right wing cause at this point. Starmer and Labour should be better and have a more sensible viewpoint on this. That they don't is because they are trying to appeal to the worst dog whistling, right wing racist c***s in this country. State of politics in the UK just now is depressing. Meanwhile the innocent keep on perishing in Israel and Palestine.
  6. That triple sub will haunt Robson. So it should too. Barron off was a criminal sub. My issue with VAR is their pen and the MacKenzie incident were very similar. To me, they both need to be given or not. I would lean towards not as legs can tangle, going against most opinion here. But for one to be no and one to be yes is dreadful
  7. There's very little to be positive or praise about Sportsound these days. However, been listening to the Celtic v Atleti game tonight, Liam McLeod is a good radio commentator and has painted a good picture. Paul Mitchell (used sparingly now) is also a very good radio commentator. A very rare positive in a sea of total, total shite otherwise.
  8. Yeah I have a feeling both Croatia and Italy will pull automatic qualification out the bag. There would be some justice in the world if Ukraine beat Wales in a playoff final given the game in Cardiff last summer, the way Ukraine battered Wales but couldn't score. They've been average alright. But up against B&H, I'd still fancy them. More because of how chronic B&H have been, including home loss to Luxembourg.
  9. Path A with a Croatia v Italy final would be unbelievable. Disastrous for UEFA if one of those two miss out. Path B, a huge drop off in quality, with two rotten teams in Iceland and Bosnia there. An Israel v Finland final should be a sure bet. Path C, that Greece v Kazakhstan semi looks very hard to call, if the good Luxembourg turns up, Georgia could be in for a real test too. Tough one to call, quite an evenly balanced path.
  10. Fantastic. We thoroughly deserve it too. Outrageous campaign. Steve Clarke can walk on water as far as I'm concerned. Not that anyone will care but that was an absolute disgrace of a performance from Norway.
  11. Magnificent stuff. The arrogance from extended family members across the Irish Sea makes that all the sweeter.
  12. It is beautiful watching South Ireland failing. Football could be their 4th sport soon.
  13. Sore one that but plenty to be positive about. I thought Hickey (bar the slip), Porteous and McKenna were colossal at the back tonight. Hendry was a bit more shaky defensively. Midfield did struggle to make an impact in the first half but showed flashes after half time. The disallowed goal, the referee gave a direct free kick for a foul on the keeper, not offside. If Hendry was offside, then yes I would accept the foul for offside as it did interfere with Simon. That is not what it was initially disallowed for. It's really poor work by the VAR team and UEFA tonight. Dust ourselves down and move on to Sunday. A draw would be lovely.
  14. Gueye reminds me of Oliver Burke - tremendous athlete, no question but as a footballer, limited and with an extremely heavy first touch
  15. On paper it isn't the worst exit. I think the performance for 60 minutes last night was extremely disappointing and we looked like the softest of soft touches. If Ireland don't win it, it will be a huge missed opportunity. They are the best team there from what I've seen. No wonder they like our rugby team, easy fodder for them. My own personal hoping they get beat is mainly driven by not wanting to listen to delighted, crawing Irish in-laws. Bitter, yes, but that's my own personality flaw.
  16. Another early World Cup exit for Townsend. He'll be fine though due to the group and it only being a 22 point margin of loss when 50 looked on. The SRU will not be questioned as Scotland doesn't care enough about rugby union to get upset by it. The small band of rugby media will not make an impact and genuine rugby goers don't seem overly fussed or scathing at defeats in the same way football fans go hard on embarrassing Scottish football displays. As for Ireland, f**k them, hope they get pumped out. Sexton alone is throughly dislikeable.
  17. In between this procession, Scott Hastings really gets on my nerves
  18. Well we're now into win or bust territory already today. 1 game into the pool. It is what it is, but it's a huge uphill task for Townsend and co. It is extremely unlikely but I hope it can be done. Speaking with my Irish brother in law last night, the arrogance is off the scale with the route to the final set already. We would be happy to get through the pool.
  19. Ah well that's depressing. Not only are Ireland looking possible champions, we're probably out before playing our second game. As a layman, if Ireland don't win it with this squad peaking at the right time, it should be viewed as a failure.
  20. Why does this Ireland never turn up against us?
  21. A real shame to lose out there. Played commendably but just didn't quite have enough to take our chances.
