  1. "one of the key reasons for appointing me was i bring sustainability" "the players are scalable" I've only seen one interview with him, 2 mins 35, and he fitted these two gems in. I think he might have meant "continuity" in the first one, from the context. The second has me puzzled though. I'm thinking Ant-Man technology? Maybe for a subbuteo league?
  2. Mine's the digital representation of the disembodied brain of a drug fuelled megalomaniac psychopath who was being manipulated by a massive corporation to subdue the population using superior technology. Seemed appropriate.

  4. I'm sure there's a link between poverty and people becoming drug addicts. In my experience (of acquaintances, friends and family, not first hand) there's also a strong link between poverty and not being able to come off drugs. I'm not sure how simple the cause and effect is though. Lots of the factors that can cause poverty could also be directly responsible for addiction, without necessarily having to cause poverty first. Also it's really obvious that addiction causes poverty too. I'm not disagreeing with you at all, i just think there's levels of causes within inequality and poverty. For example, if we had functional mental health services we could tackle some of both drug addiction and poverty at source.
  5. Surely in true capitalism they'd have competition. Nothing to say a state owned pharmaceutical company in a socialist system wouldn't do the same. From my understanding the blame lies largely with the regulatory system. Capitalism is not the same as free markets and open competition. Capitalism tends to prefer monopolies. I think the regulatory system has to take some responsibility but you can't deny that "the blame" lies with the individuals who acted unethically for profit.
  6. Here's an article with his reasons for wanting to leave the EU. Regulations apparently. https://www.timesofisrael.com/a-jewish-brexit-party-politician-owns-londons-oldest-smoked-salmon-factory/ He doesn't make clear how he thinks leaving would mean that he would have fewer regulations to comply with. Usual wishful/magical thinking i guess. He also says Scottish smoked salmon is shite compared to his cockernee product.
  7. We could put out a fully rotated team that wouldn't be completely hopeless if Devlin is fit/exists. Woods Gurr. Devlin. Gallagher. McKenzie Kennedy Campbell Mcgeough McGinn Jenks McLennan Could put Virtanen in for Campbell if he's still injured and still have Ngwenya, Ruth and Duncan. Obviously not suggesting that we should do this. Does emphasise that we're short at centre back and striker though.
  8. I thought "of course that's genuine, why would anyone fake that?" but managed to find an official report of the games with a full list of sponsors, suppliers and licensees. No Philip Morris or Marlboro. Now wondering if the report is faked P 231 (p253 of pdf) https://digital.la84.org/digital/collection/p17103coll8/id/38982/rec/51
  9. At Uni we had access to a world bank database of economic indicators that they used to create a "development index". Obviously the G7 countries scored highest. What we could do was change the weighting given to the factors. If you downplay gdp per capita and openness of financial markets and increase the importance of literacy rates and child malnutrition, the US tumbles way out of the top ten. Basically, America is not a first world country for its poor.
  10. American isn't it? It is also spelled loo-tenant so that probably doesn't help.
  11. Using my highly perceptive detective abilities i have deduced that it was Cosmopolitan magazine.
  12. One like this up on the spittal will do wherever we put the new ground.
  13. I was struggling psychologically with genuine optimism. I feel more comfortable with the world now.
  14. If it isn't about cost savings why close the plant? It's not stopping them investing. I think you've got yourself a false dichotomy there. Pedantry over, from what you've said about Japan and others about Turkey it does look likely that brexit is way down the list of contributory factors for the decision. Happy to accept well informed argument ahead of my idle speculation.
  15. They just change the flavour. The original active ingredient formulation of rohypnol and amyl nitrate is unaltered.
  16. See also cross tattoos and such like. A cross is a religious symbol and I know a few folk who have them that have absolutely no affinity to religion. A ridiculous fashion statement. Fannies. Also probably not a very welcone sight to someone whose son/personification/earthly manifestation was nailed to one to suffocate under his own body weight over a few days.
  17. That reminds me of speaking to a couple from yorkshire on a coach trip to ephesus. He said that it reminded him of that film with Colin Farrell. She said....
  18. Agree it looks like bigger forces at play here but i doubt that brexit was quite as insignificant a factor as they’re presenting. Japanese corporate culture is still outwardly very polite and they wouldn't publicly blame the host government even if brexit was the only reason. "Tarrif free" depends how much of the value was added in the uk and what the fine detail of the deals look like in practice. There might not be enough UK stuff in the cars for them to count as UK goods on the way into the EU. Parts from the EU or Japan would also need tracked for rules of origin. Even if everything does qualify for zero tarrif there's a lot of extra work to do to make that so. A lot less to do with 2 territories. That's just the cost side of the equation. On the benefit side we've removed the "within the EU market" factor. Although as you say the fairly recent Japan/EU deal might have meant that was unimportant anyway.
  19. This sort of thing is to brexit as extreme weather events are to man-made climate change. You can't say for sure that CO2 emissions caused any one particular typhoon to cause floods, but you can be confident that it would have been less likely without.
  20. Looks like they've had their lines painted by a zx spectrum
