When, as they surely will, Real put 7 or 8 past these tedious sectarians then the disgrace and shame for United will be complete.

The Vampiric nature of some Scottish football fans.
Quite happy to tell you how much they despise you however also more than happy to pimp you out for their own end if they can profit from it.
Should rename it the Universal Credit League

Glasgow Celtic......The Tory party at play..

Totally agree. The most important thing for me is that Kenny McIntyre has no control over the pundits on any given show, which is why it descends into pointless discussions week after week. My choice for anchor would have been Gordon Duncan and I really hope that BBC Scotland approached him and he turned them down, because there’s no other excuse for him not to be in place.
Extraordinary that someone so hopelessly Old Firm centric as McIntyre is hosting the national football show while Gordon Duncan whose sublime professionalism only just manages to conceal the contempt he has for the Old Firm cretins (in the studio as well as on the phone) he has to deal with nightly, hosts Radio Old Firm Superscorebored. Round pegs, square holes.

You have to have sympathy for anyone who thinks Celtic are just really good at doing football.
Probably also thinks Celtic are ' a family ' .

I would like to see that removed from football yes. Doesnt mean i want the old firm removed.
The two go hand in hand......you can't remove secterianism from Scottish football while keeping the Old Firm.

Clearly you do since the point i quoted was you saying leagues like the Bundesliga aren’t in the same state of tedium.
So it can’t be whataboutery if it was you who referenced them in the first instance
I said they weren't in the same state and you think they are which just means we have a different opinion. It's your argument that seems to say, 'whatabout the Germans they're just as bad' not mine. My argument is no top league on the face of the planet is in as bad a place as the Scottish top flight. No ifs, no maybes and most definitely, no whatabouts.

Tell me Kennie who is getting close to topping Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga?
Who. cares ....the German equivalent of P&B are welcome to that debate. The Scottish top flight is effectively dead but once again the Old Firm brainstrust trot out the "why are you annoyed that your cat got run over, cats get run over in Munich too, you know" line of defence. Good job the rest of us aren't listening to the outdated tribal whataboutery and triumphalism any longer.

Fans make out like this is a new issue. Its common throughout almost every league in Europe now which is dominated by one, two or three clubs - unless a crazy & wealthy sugardaddy comes in, but even that is limited due to the restrictions and spending caps put in place at the behest of the monopolies. Its clear to anyone with a few brain cells that ever since the introduction of the Champions League and its expansion, its killed off competitive football in every country in Europe.
The same folks saying RIP Scottish Football because of a duopoly are probably the same people who watch the Spanish, German or #Barclays not seeing the irony
There is no irony...if you think the EPL , Bundesliga, La Liga are in the same state of utter tedium and stasis as the Scottish top flight then I beg to differ. And in any case that oft repeated slice of whataboutery does not make the state of our game ok. Yes it's not a new issue but what I think is new, refreshingly new, is that a growing number of people in Scotland are saying enough. We're not going to give Celtic/Rangers credit for steamrolling so called diddies. We're going to show the Old Firms domestic 'acheivements' up to be the vacuous nothingness they really are whatever Sportsound, Superscoreboard or the Daily Record tells us.

I say this as someone who doesn’t particularly like the old firm (although I do want them to do well in Europe, as with any Scottish team).
Other Scottish clubs always bang on about getting rid of the Scottish football but, the simple fact is, the quality within Scottish football would almost certainly diminish. This would be because there wouldn’t be as much money in the game. The sky tv deal is pretty shit but, as far as I know, it’s the best out there. I can’t imagine the same level of money is offered without the old firm.
I do agree that the old firm doing well in Europe makes the gap even bigger (the gap will never be closed due to the difference in support etc). However, them being successful in Europe has increased the co-efficient which has allowed us to have wider Scottish appearances in Europe. Motherwell made an arse of it. Dundee United came up against a half decent team but got pumped. Hearts will hopefully get through.
If the old firm go, I can’t see teams like st mirren or st johnstone suddenly seeing a large increase in their attendances.
People will argue that it will become more competitive which it may. However, what will probably happen is that there will be a new monopoly. The likes of aberdeen and hearts have much larger supports than the majority of other teams so they will just start to win most things. All of that under, what will almost certainly be, an inferior product which then leads to reduced co-efficient etc.Something has to change and change now. To all intents and purposes we no longer have a top flight league in any meaningful sense of the word. Is that acceptable for the sake of a couple more coefficient points ? Hearts and Aberdeen becoming a new monopoly/duopoly ? Unlikely and certainly no where near the hegemony the Old Firm have subjected us to. There aren't any easy answers but the starting point is clearer than it's ever been.....kick the secterian Old Firm out of Scottish football. !!!!

Disastrous result for Scottish football last night.
Exactly.....yet our 'national' broadcaster who should care about the whole of the Scottish game will hype it as being great, wonderful,. magical, stupendous for Scottish football. If only someone, anyone would appear on sportsound and ask why......go on, tell us, why is the Old Firm getting into the CL wonderful for the rest of the clubs......tell us, I dare you.

With the way the Arabs are going, this should be a canter.
Realistically, 1-2, Abada in the 93rd minute, cos Sellick are richer than everyone else and every game is a meaningless, joyless, farce.
Not if United play their pets.....dogs, cats, rabbits, bearded dragons, tropical fish and such like. That would at least be a joyful farce. Any United players who don't own a pet when the Old Firm come calling should really have a good look at themselves .

He wanted Celtic & Rangers revenues limited and all revenues generated in Europe redistributed to the other clubs in the League.
Well either that or they can keep all their European revenues and play somewhere else other than Scotland......but then they wouldn't have any European revenues...oh dear what a quandary.....

Rest in Peace Scottish football

It's not lazy. 'The Old Firm' is the collective nickname for Rangers & Celtic coined over a century ago as a satirical comment on the way they both operate in tandem to carve up Scottish football in their own interests. As true today as it was back then which is why the name sticks. The term has nothing to do with the relative footballing merits of the two teams.
