Welcome @Aim Here has laid out the league rules a couple of pages back and I'm quite sure he'll be able to get you in without any issues. I think The_kid will likely now be promoted to even the divisions out. It's a minimum of one move a day (although games are generally played more quickly than that) so you don't need to worry about setting aside a specific time to play your games. The league will be due to resume fairly soon so look out for the fixtures posted here.

It was always likely to be tough against a team from the South Eastern Conference. Unlike the NFL the NCAA conferences aren't evenly matched. Although I thought it might've been closer as Vanderbilt are one of the weaker teams in the SEC. The games against the other Mountain West teams should be a better gauge of how well they're playing once the conference games get under way in a few weeks.

It would've been better if this had happened when Hopkin was here so we could've fired the complete rocket into the sun.

Paakman said he was out for this season so it'll probably be a straight swap for him.

I think there's something not quite right with Division A/B, possibly doing Pk89 a bit of a disservice. Although he lost the playoff he still finished above Invergowrie in the table. Happy to go with either structure.

Agree with all the suggested rules. The only possible exception might be reverting back to two automatic promotion relegation spots if we restructure to two larger divisions due to fewer players. Hopefully we get a few new or returning players to make that unnecessary. @Trogdor don't sweat it if you can only play one or two moves a day. Better that than you dropping out. Alternatively you could put less time and thought into your moves which might give the rest of us half a chance against you.

I'm quite glad we didn't meet in my first season here as I had a habit of throwing in a blunder most games. This season will be remembered fondly as the one where I managed to get a draw against you. Wrt the trio of Dundee aficionados it would be good to see them back. I don't know what it is about Dens Park that makes it a breeding ground for good chess players. I can only assume that by about 20 minutes into a game everyone's lost interest in the match and pulled put the travel chess sets instead. Finally it's big thanks to @Aim Here for the sterling work organising the season. The league would've been in danger of falling apart without him.

Board_stupid beats beef2711 by resignation. I seem to have become something of a bogey team for beef, although I don't expect that to last. There was nothing in it until a queen breakthrough caused some issues.

I quite enjoy the occasional episode of Columbo. You know as a viewer right from the beginning that he's going to catch the criminal. Everyone knows that he'll win. The boys back at the station will know it. If he killer had any shred of self awareness he'd know it too. It's a bit like that playing against Trogdor. Deep down I probably know that it's futile trying to beat him and it's just a matter of seeing what he'll do to come out on top. Dearyme beats Board_stupid by asking more difficult questions than I have answers to.

In the cup Board_stupid defeats N5_SPUR by checkmate. It was really even for the first 20 or so moves, but the game turned on an apparently free pawn that ended up costing a rook.

I'd like to suggest an alternative midpoint of Saturday. At 1PM. When there will be 182 days and 12 hours either side of that point. This is what I'll regard as half time when my team will be getting the hair drier treatment.
