I hope the club allow PATG again at some point. Makes it so much easier for some of the older generation or folk who aren’t computer savvy

I agree but don’t think we will, certainly not while we’re in the championship. If not and if it’s all to be barcode/QR code then it would be good to have a ticket office/window on the wall where printed tickets could be purchased up to kick off, pretty sure they do that at Pittodrie and others.

I like that side better too it’ll just be weird. Pleash end seems tighter and more enclosed for some reason.

I’ve got a pal who is adamant that end is smaller and the roof lower but it’s definitely not. I think it’s simply because the sun shines into the harbour end.

Gonna be weird being segregated up at that end.

I’ve always preferred the pleasureland end and, aside from big cup games with segregation, that was always the end the home fans congregated in pre match when I was younger. Not sure when that changed but possibly when we were last in the Championship in the early 2000s. I understand that it may pose logistical issues for some games but I would love it if we got that end as a matter of course for segregated games.

Arbroath close to the 800 mark.

Highest we’ve ever had. I think it’s great but no doubt that amount will be scoffed at by some of the big time Charlies in this league.

Not only are Arbroath the only part-time side in the league but Arbroath is also by far the smallest town. Pretty much every other town in the league (apart from Glasgow obviously) is at least double the size. Dumfries the next smallest but still much larger than Arbroath.

Also factor in the decades of general shitness and I think it’s pretty impressive how well we’re supported at the moment. Could still be better obviously but the more seasons we spend at this level, the more kids in particular, will follow the team.

When I was younger there were hardly any kids in the town that went to games or openly supported the team, now you see kids in AFC tops all the time and there’s always a healthy turnout at every game.

  5. Are people really taking my suggestion of playing Little in midfield seriously? FFS it was a daft wee conversation about how to accommodate Little, ToB and Henderson in the same team, while also playing Hammy on the left and Stewart or JT at right back. We have at least 10 guys who can comfortably play in midfield so I and everyone else know it would never happen in a million years.

Yeah looks good that. Even Gold or Hilson in there too as the 5th player.

What about trying ToB centre mid? Used to boss it there for Cowden and get himself a few goals too I’m sure. He’s got everything, only thing would maybe be getting about the park he’s always dead casual at centre half, sure he has that in him you just never see it cause the cigars out.

Yeah, we have a lot of good options to bring on in midfield. Gold was brilliant on Saturday when he came on, clark also very good and Paterson to come in too.

If we were to play all three then how about Ricky Little in the centre of midfield and ToB and Henderson at the back. Ricky is obviously brilliant but lacks the physical presence against big centre forwards.

Fair. But Hammy is a great left back, Henderson centre mid would be interesting but right now I’d just be tempted to leave it until a space opens up through suspension or injury or bad form. Henderson has been absolutely superb so far I’m so surprised with how well he’s done. Stewart has been brilliant too and the more he plays there the better he will get, so much potential if he kept getting a run of games.

I should have qualified my comment re ToB, he has to come back in - only when fully fit.

McKenna, Low, Henderson and Linn is a midfield I would like to see, a good mixture of creativity, energy and physicality.

I particularly like Stewart’s dynamism and energy, will need to see how he gets on defensively under pressure in the league but I like what I’ve seen so far. I’ve always been a fan of Hamilton but I don’t think he’s ever really been sufficiently challenged in that position and, if I had a gun put to my head, I would say he is our very slight week link in defence.

Also ToB can’t be far away from coming back, JT too.... what happens then what’s everyone thinking? I’d be tempted to just leave Henderson and Stewart where they are. They were excellent again yesterday same as they were at Tannadice. Hard one

Agree re Stewart, JT might find it hard getting back in as no1 in that position. ToB has to come back in though. Would like to see Henderson in midfield or LB.

Might sound daft but that was a very comfortable 1 goal win for us today. Jameson in the Kelty goal kept it from being 6 or 7 - 2. Delighted we’ve got ourselves into the last 16

Even at 0-2 down I still had a feeling we would get something out of the game. We could have been 2 up before they scored their first and it was obvious from the amount of chances we were creating that the goals would come. Most of the second half was as one sided a game as you’ll get.

The pair were as bad as each other on that.

Really? From where I was standing it looked like Hammy made an erse of a basic pass straight to their player who played it through for a simple finish. Would like to see the replay though as he seemed to be blaming someone else for it, I’m assuming Hilson.

I thought Hilson played ok, just wish he could finish better, he seems to have a real issue when he has time to think. McKenna, Donnelly, Low, Stewart and Gold (just how versatile is he?) we’re the stand outs for me, but I think everyone played well, great team performance.

Definitely a drop in intensity and quality when Linn and Donnelly in particular went off. At that point we were running riot and it looked like we would score every time we attacked. Swankie is obviously a totally different proposition than Linn and was brought on to steady the midfield. Nouble looked pretty unfit but showed enough to be a decent addition, should have scored.

Actually thought Kelty were pretty poor when you consider the squad they have. Looked solid at the back and in midfield (which they bossed for 20 minutes) until after their second goal then it was one way traffic. They didn’t seem to have much creativity from middle to front and aside from a great hit for their first and a defensive feck up from us for their second, they didn’t offer much.

Only negative today was probably Hilson.  Looked like he was lacking a bit of confidence and cost us the 2nd goal. Clark continues to improve

How did hilson cause the second? Was it not Hammy who sclaffed a simple pass straight to their player?

  12. Kelty 2 chances, 2 goals - Arbroath about 10 chances, 1 goal. Sums us up.

oh well, according to the bbc, we’ve had 7 attempts  (4 on target) and they’ve had 6 attempts (3 on target). Feels like, apart from their goals, we’ve been we’ll on top, certainly for the last 20 of the half it’s been one way traffic.
