Two things have to happen tonight for us to lose - we have to have a massive off day/bottle crash AND Morton have to find the form that they’ve been missing for most of the last few months. I can see one happening in isolation... but both is surely unlikely. We also have the small safety net of Ayr needing to win or draw.

Morton have only won twice in something like 14 games and haven’t even scored against us this season.

Hopefully this doesn’t come back to bite me in the arse ☹️

F*ck me, did I really say this?

Yet to receive an election leaflet from the Lib Dem’s. Find it weird considering the local Lib Dem councillor writes to everyone as often as he can about he great he is.

Had Labour, Tories, SNP, Alba, Reform, Scottish Family Party, AFU all today.

Last election I didn’t receive a Lib Dem leaflet until the day after the vote. I think I’ll die laughing if that happens again.

There’s a sad looking wee old wifie that hand delivers Lib Dem leaflets around my area. She’s probably daft Wullie’s auntie or something. At least it keeps her active.

Dick doesn't smoke cigars, 100% will be set up to win to go for 6th place
Wonder what the prize money difference between 6 and 7th is?

I would imagine it’s fairly significant and I think some of it could trickle down to the players so I’m sure everyone will be fired up to win.

Aye will be interesting if we go in level at half time and Ayr are a few goals down.

Unofficial Gus and Dick nod of let's see this out...then of course Ayr score 2 towards the end, leaving us fecked.

I'm tempted to buy both games and turn my phone off for 90 minutes..

Arbroath May settle for and be happy with a draw come full time but there’s no way we’ll set out with that intention. If we win and Queen of the South lose then we would end up 6th, a big incentive to go all out for the win.

No not really. I’m a Murray fanboy too. That Wighton goal was one of my favourite moments supporting Arbroath. To go to Tannadice in a league game, 7/8k in or whatever, and to win was absolutely unreal considering all the shit I’ve watched in the past. Getting pumped 4-0 in the pishing rain infront of 300 at Cliftonhill etc. Don’t care what he’s doing now, don’t like him scoring against us but hope he goes on to have a great career.

I've been a supporter since the 70's and have seen all the dross too - standing on the terraces to watch us end up flat last in the senior setup... more than once. Celebrating like f**k just scoring a goal or winning a game, any game.

No doubt this is the best period in my time as a supporter and possibly in the club's entire history. Where we are now and the players we have compared to the 80's and most of the 90's is incredible.

This current squad and recent squads are/were full of shoe-in hall of famers, players that will go down in club history - Linn, Little, O'Brien, Hammy, Swankie, Doris, Falky etc. but, na, I'll have a profile pic of a guy who played FIVE games for us and has just today, scored two goals against us and bought a soft penalty.

eta: enjoyed watching Wighton so much even if it was only for a handful of games. The fact he scored the winner in a league game at Tannadice and I was there makes it even better. When will we see a league win as impressive as beating Dundee United away again? Best league win I’ve ever saw. Pic is staying and I am now a Craig Wighton fanboy.

Fine, I respect your opinion and, as I said previously, I will always appreciate what he did for us last season, and would love to have had him back as I thought he was great in his all-too-brief stint... but,  to have a massive hard-on for a player who played FIVE games for us and scored three goals is a tad weird. He has scored the same amount of goals AGAINST US this season, goals that could ultimately see us relegated. I could turn a blind eye to say Bobby Linn or Stevie Doris scoring against us as they're de-facto Lichtie legends, but Wighton... a very brief loanee? Na.

Perhaps if we get relegated I can look out a profile pic of Simon Murray for when he bangs in a hat-trick for QP against us... sounds crazy doesn't it?

Think it’s time to ditch your profile pic. Appreciate what Wighton did for us last season but he only played 5 games FFS. I think it would be more fitting to have any of our current team... even another loanee - Jack Hamilton who has done much more for us IMO, he’s certainly played more and scored more.

Never mind the fact that Wighton has scored goals against us this season which may ultimately see us relegated.

Does it nae feel a bit daft having a profile of a guy who scored two against us today and “won” a soft penalty?

  9. Sad to see you go down. Used to have a bit of historic resentment towards Alloa after you pipped us for promotion back in the early 80s, when I was a young lad 😆 but have nothing but respect the way you've held your own at this level for the last three years. The league has been mental this season with very little between any of the teams, sadly that's when tiny errors/weaknesses can make a huge difference, our weakness has been (until today) putting the ball in the net which may yet see us join you.

Always love seeing the "diddy" part-time sides like us, you, Dumbarton etc getting it up the big time charlies in this league. Dick Campbell had some kind words to say about Alloa in his post match interview today.

'Mon the part timers - haste ye back.

Seems to be a real dearth of goalscorers in the leagues just now, struggling to think of any realistic striker I’d take at Gayfield.

Massive problem at all levels of Scottish fitba and has been for a few years. Just look at the national side, when was the last time we had an out-and-out predatory goal-scorer, McCoist?

Hopefully we stay in the Championship and keep all out best established players, we are so lucky to have the likes of Gaston/T.O.B./Little and many others who are up to their standard.

If i had a choice to bring in 2 others who are part-time it would be Trouten from Alloa (albeit i had heard we tried to sign him in the past but he said at his age now he wanted a central belt club to save on travelling) and (and i know a lot of folk will be against this because of his off field antics in the past) David Goodwillie but again this probably will not happen because of the baggage he is labeled with plus i think he works for Clyde's Chairman's company.

    C'Mon the Red Lichties, 36-0.

Agree re keeping our best players and I’m sure we will if we stay up.

Not sure about Trouten, past his best IMO and we certainly don’t need another one of those. Wouldn’t want Goodwillie anywhere near the club.

Need someone young and energetic with an eye for goal, unfortunately players like that are like hen’s teeth.

Ben Williamson who plays in midfield is only 19 years old and outstanding - keep a watch on him.

Our creative player Bobby Linn is out injured - but keep a watch on Jack Hamilton, who knows how to find the back of the net.

Overall, this is very much an attacking formation Arbroath are playing.

I think there’s nothing to lose today so might as well go for it. No point in trying to shitfest it and end up with a narrow defeat. Go out and try to win and even a draw would be a good result.

Did I say that Referees have it in for Raith? Learn to read before responding. Nice of you to agree that some of the refereeing is shite tho. The fact remains that too many games are decided by shite refereeing, and as I said that could well affect the outcome in the run in.

Well it sounds like it to me - “... the shite refereeing WE usually get”. There have been other comments on this thread to the effect that Raith’s poor disciplinary record is down to the officiating.

Aye, I think most of us are, there's not many games left to overcome slip ups now, and with the shite refereeing  we usually get anything can happen.

Really? I think every fan could find multiple examples of shite refereeing against their team. From an Arbroath perspective, we’ve had several ridiculous penalty decisions go against us this season, including the first game at Starks Park. Referees are human, they f**k up, and badly sometime but to think they have it in for Raith is ridiculous.

I meant from automatic relegation, obviously the playoff situation will go to the wire.

Hopefully you don't end up in that situation. Morton keeping falkirk down, while we relegate yogis County is the dream scenario. Unlikely as it all is.

The way this league has gone this season I reckon there are a few twist and turns yet to come. I’m not a betting man, but I would (notionally) wager that the playoffs at either end won’t be decided until 4:45 on the final day.
