I’d like to see a back four tried as well. It’d put Tierney at LB and allow McTominay into midfield. I think it’d be good to see a three of McT, Gilmour and McGregor, followed by two of McGinn, Christie, Armstrong or Fraser and then Adams up front. Also think it’s about time Morgan and Gauld got given a shout now that travelling from the states has eased up.

Not only that, but he could look at it from the perspective that he joined a fairly settled squad and as a newcomer, needed to prove to the manager that he was worthy of disrupting that for a first team slot. Now the whole squad is in the same position as him with the new manager coming in and it’ll basically be a clean slate for them all. Nathan Patterson similarly signed for a manager that then left. It’s a slightly different situation in that he didn’t have as much competition (basically just Coleman, who has been injured), but he’s now arguably the first choice right back at Everton.

Brighton seem well run, so they’d probably go for someone like Knudsen or Postecoglou, which would still be good news for Gilmour, I think. He’s better out of Chelsea regardless and it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that Potter has that same realisation for himself, too. Anyway, between this thread and his real life, who needs eastenders, eh?
