In the meantime, recreate the joy of steroid injections in hands and feet by taking a fork from the cutlery drawer and forcing it through your foot.

I got my first ever steroid injection last week into my hip joint. The thought of a needle going directly into my groin and travelling that distance wasn’t exactly filling me with joy, but whilst uncomfortable it was nowhere near as bad as I expected. Having said that, I’m hard as nails and most other people would probably have cried.

Has anyone ever went private for healthcare treatment? If so, did you pay for a one off consultation or do you have to sign up to some kind of package?

Saw the Doctor a couple of months ago (a lochum at that who clearly didn't give a f**k) who was absolutely useless in giving me answers and has referred me to a department I doubt will get me any closer to what the problem is. The wait time for my appointment is 6/7 months apparently. Not ideal.

Seriously considering going private but don't know where to start tbh.

I have private health but it's fairly easy to refer yourself without it. Just find a specialist and ask for an appointment. To give you an idea of cost I referred my wee boy to a dermatologist in Aberdeen, his initial consultation fee was £350 (paid by insurer) and the appointment lasted 5 minutes. Thankfully he managed to control my wee boys eczema in those 5 minutes that our GP couldn't do in 4 years. He wanted a follow up appointment that was another £250 which I was fine to go to as I wasn't paying for it!

Ta muchly. I'm not sure what specialist I'd need just now which is the frustrating thing. Booked in to a private physio in Hamilton next week. If nothing else they can hopefully rule out that's an area that can help me!

No surprise to hear the hip is playing up with all those shallow roadside graves you’ve had to dig.

Has anyone done jury service recently? I phoned last night and was told I might be contacted between 9 and 1:30. I'm guessing I'm not getting a phonecall today. Does this mean I'm free? Or more likely to be phoned tomorrow? How has several centuries of the law reached a point where this is the most efficient means of selecting a jury?

I had to check in for 3 or 4 days before I was totally off the hook. If they didn't tell you to phone this evening again if you didn't get a call it I think you're free.  I assume it's in case first choice jury members pull a sickie.

P.S. This was a couple of months ago in Inverness.

Same here when I was on the panel three or four years ago (pre-Covid). I had to phone in each morning but always got a recording saying I didn't have to turn up. Then on the third or fourth day the message said I was no longer required.

Last night's message said to phone again tonight, so I suppose we'll see. I'm off work this week. I really don't see how this system works if they pick anyone who's employed.

I’m not going to lie, having to leave the body in undergrowth and return later with a bobcat on a trailer is a bit of a pain in the arse.

I was cited starting on Monday this week. Got the same message Sunday night. Got a phone call on Monday morning saying they were selecting jury and did I have anything on that might stop me attending up until Friday. I have a nurse appointment on Friday morning so they excused me.

I phoned for today's update and got the exact same message as yesterday, word for word. Only it was a man saying it and not a woman. I suppose I could say I have an urgent testicle appointment on the Friday.

Relax, just remember how many people better than you will get out of it or get picked before they reach you.

It’s a legal requirement whether you’re employed or not and I believe everyone gets the same day rate regardless of what you earn. I don’t know how they can justify not picking up the bill for jurors loss of earnings if that’s still the case.

I don’t know how they justify that either. A couple days ok, but what if you got stuck on something like Letsby, was that not 8 months or something? How can someone lose that salary? Not to mention the employer suddenly realising they don’t need the person if they don’t bring someone else in.

They didn't ask for evidence so go ahead!
