Quick Question Thread

So we were having our roof more or less completely replaced the week before last. Someone (maybe me, maybe not) left a bedroom window open by accident and came in to find a cloud of noxious white dust floating around the room.

We were off on holiday for a week the following day so I didn't get to do much about it, but noted a sinister film of white stoor over everything and knew Id have to tackle it on returning.

I've returned from holiday and set to work giving the room a deep clean. I have wiped everything solid with a damp cloth and hoovered the place. I'll get the curtains taken down and washed later on tonight.

I used up an entire bog roll working in the room as I kept sneezing, and having to blow my nose. I've had to stop for a break.

My questions are:

Will another couple of goes with the damp cloth and hoover sort this in the long run? My nose immediately starts streaming when I go in the room.

Would an air purifier do anything here?

Would I be better just moving house?

Do you live at Ibrox?

Probably right enough as we were having tiles replaced with new ones.

Luckily I do own a vacuum with a HEPA filter in it.

Do you 'luckily' have lungs with a HEPA filter ? Thoughts and prayers etc

Seen a lassie go round lidl today with a face mask on, then when I walked out, she was stood about 4 yards from the doorway lighting a fag as fast as humanly possible after leaving. Funny what some folk care about filtering.....

Maybe a bit funny coming from me, but is there a law in Scotland stating that you can't cut a (nestless) hedge between X & Y month (particularly between March & Aug)?

No shortage of contradictory messages online which may well be out of date, and difficult to tell if there's a Scotland v England difference, or whether domestic properties are exempt.

Seems clear enough that there's now a 2024 law that stops Scottish farmers clipping hedgerows from end Mar to start of August.  Bit vague beyond that.

Virgin Media have emailed an offer saying I can have all 9 Sky Sports HD channels for £25 a month extra for the next 18months. Is that a good deal?

My question would be how much your total package would be and what you get in it.

I’m paying £39 a month just now I think for the basic TV and pretty good internet (have a phone line too but it’s not even plugged in). Adding sky sports would take it to £64 a month

Get connected with a Firestick, £50-60 per annum.

That isn't too bad. I have the fastest internet, TV, Sky Sports and movies for about £90 a month.

Two unrelated posts but according to the media the police can't afford enough staff to stop Greggs being emptied of a weeks worth of Steak Bakes but have enough to chap the doors if everyone watching Leeds vs Portsmouth on a Saturday afternoon.

I'm sceptical

You see click clickbaity shite popping up all the time about how IPTV is about to be CRACKED DOWN!!!!! again and specifically how this time they plan to target the end users..... If there aren't millions of end users there are certainly hundreds of thousands. It's laughable. And tbh in the 3 years or so I've used it, I'd say the bigger service interruptions where they tackle the providers are getting less frequent rather than more

How do I go about defrosting an integrated freezer that I cant turn the power off to?

Will just leaving the door for an amount of time do it?

Integrated or not there should still be an off switch.

Worst case scenario, trip switch in your fuse box?
