Rover1990
He showed enough to merit a couple more appearances before league cup games. Some moments in the game he looked very composed. Dylan Tait was the big plus yesterday looks like he is going to take another step up in his development. The younger players all showed glimpses of potential as well. Its only one game but there was positives to take.
CALDERON
My takes from the first friendly of the season in previous years has been.... 1. Nisbet looks shite 2. Mendy will stroll the league 3. Falkirk look decent. So it's difficult to read much into these. That said, really feel that we are short in the middle of the park. Would be hoping for a minimum of 2, ideally 3, in terms of additional bodies.
San Starko Rover
Looks like he played a few games for Finn Harps, not up to speed on the LOI. How good is it compared to our level? Finn Harps seem to be bottom half any idea how they compare to ourselves? Are the F/T or P/T? Think he did enough to merit another look. Lad at LB looked off the pace but in fairness Stranraer’s No10 looked handy and quick and the LB No21 looked very young. Could be just making up the numbers or a young lad with some potential but I’d be surprised if he was more. Couple of our young lads did alright when they came on. Watched the Highlights that flick by Vaughan before his goal deserved to go in really hope he stays fit again this season. Pretty much in agreement with this, although it's worth remembering Matthews was missing yesterday and Spencer only came off the bench. I wouldn't be looking to sign any more players who are only going to add depth to the squad - I would only sign anyone else who will add quality, whether it be a loan deal or a permanent signing. I've even seen Scott Roberts score a worldy while sitting in the north stand (Roary club family day), but the best game while sitting in it was the 3-2 against Dundee United when Tommy McLean returned a couple of weeks after walking out. Absolute scenes when Twaddle knocked in the winner down at the other end. I'm not sure if it was the well or utd game, but I can remember a keeper slipping on his arse whilst taking a goal kick, allowing the opposition player to score from a good few yards out.

JaketheSnake
Anybody know who Stranraer's wee number 10 was? I thought he looked quality. Caused us problems a few times and should've scored.

Zen Archer (Raconteur)
Quote John McGlynn has confessed he has ‘absolutely no idea’ when Ross Matthews will return to action following a recurrence of the toe complaint which plagued the midfielder last season. Their big clubs are FT and would be around our mid Premier league, it's a stronger league than the Northern Ireland League. Dandalk in particular have a decent European Pedigree and have twice qualified for the EUFA Cup group stage. Their bottom half teams would be about our championship level. Having said that, the Irish sides didn't do great in our Mickey Mouse Cup (but who knows what kind of sides they put out).

Certainly expect he’ll get another look, especially with Matthews down indefinitely. Around 23, seems competent for not really knowing the team and such, fitness looked good, didn’t make horrendous errors. The LB seemed to have a wee bit of potential, despite struggling with the right winger. He’s young, and perhaps they are considering a possible MA signing in the future, much as we’ve developed Dave McKay. We currently are developing no defenders, and developing and promoting our own young players will be important going forward. 54 minutes ago, Scary Bear said: Where did Mendy end up? Played just over 800 mins for Finn Harps last season, mostly as a DM in a midfield 3. Had one or two games at full back too. "On paper" profile, which shouldn't be used as a full judge of a player as it misses some context, describes him thusly... Looks like most of his good work is done in his own half, not great at moving forwards with the ball but seems like he tries to get involved at both ends when possible. On the ball it seems like hes one who tries to get the ball forwards quickly when he can. Unsure with how that matches up to actually seeing him play though.
raith1974
The left back looked way out of his depth, the centre mid needs to have another couple of games, looks to do the easy thing very well and looked like he can get a long pass done.
grumswall
I think people need to remember that trialists don't normally have alot of time to get to know the players they are playing with and in the instance of the lb, he's 16/17 playing next to experienced pros for probably the first time. The experience will do him wonders. He did alot of the basics right and with regular game time with Fife elite he could be another one we pick up moving forward.
