CrossgatesCynic
So the assumptions over next season's shirt sponsor, is there anything in that? Or is it just a, "Aye, well, f**k Val McDermid - we never needed her anyway" pile of horseshit?

The rumour was the Dean Park Hotel, and their name has just recently appeared on the back of the away kit I believe.

Apparently worth £40 million not to shabby fair bit more than SNP Val. -
Ebanda's Handyman Services
The club has already disregarded our female players, supporters, staff and volunteers with the signing of a rapist. Should that disregard have continued by not bothering to acknowledge IWD yesterday? -

A bit of appreciation of why the signing was wrong, why so many people got so angry at it. I'm surprised that your owner hasn't realised it would've been a good opportunity to front up so to say. As it was the tweet seemed utterly generic and very hypocritical when you consider that the decision makers very recently considerd Goodwillies history of rape was alright due to him being part of the Rovers family for playing on loan absolutely years ago. It's a bit of a brass neck to make that decision, then put out the tweet they did, showing some contrition, an acknowledgement that they got it very, very wrong and the steps being taken to rectify it would've gone down well IMO. There was a twitter account that was quote tweeting buisness accounts tweeting about fairness and equality for women while having gender pay gaps etc. Empty platitudes tend to get called out more.
San Starko Rover
think I’ll take a wee look and see what’s happening in the Raith forum now it’s calmed down a bit.

To have effectively said nothing publicly since being forced into a u-turn on Goodwillie and then post that just made us look ridiculous. Can’t understand why they wouldn’t have announced the new female director rather than leave it a day. A “On IWD, we’re pleased to welcome…” post would have been much better as it wouldn’t have been empty words.

Broken Algorithms
The whole episode on IWD felt like l whey a bunch of celebrities recorded themselves singing Imagine at the start of the pandemic. It was meant as a nice gesture, but it felt completely out of touch with the situation. I think it would've come across a lot better to announce our new director while acknowledging the board are looking to diversify following on from what has happened this year so far.

I think it'd have been an even worse look if the club hijacked IWD for an attempt at redemption with statements about what has passed. It inevitably looked like an empty gesture after the recent shitfest but the club need to start taking steps back to where they once were. Ignoring IWD would have been a step backwards in my opinion.
Specky Ginger
Like a lot of other things at the club recently, the IWD situation could have been handled and presented better, but I've absolutely no doubt that the Twitter Queens were at the ready to criticise if the club made reference to it and equally so if they didn't.
Raith Against The Machine
Ignoring IWD wouldn't have been a good thing, but it would've been better than what they put out. A handful of people would've noticed and been critical, but the tone-deaf nonsense they put out (and still haven't deleted!) reverberated around Twitter for the day and was seen by tens of thousands of people, all in a negative light. The club's whole public image needs to be rehabilitated. They've got to be actively thinking about these issues and addressing them directly. I do agree that putting out the Susan Simpson announcement a day earlier would've looked a bit cynical, but there are ways in which it could've been done. I still think that for next season there needs to be a partnership with an appropriate charity. And not just a logo on a shirt (although that should happen) but full engagement, with videos of staff attending workshops and events etc. Killie have just done something very similar with the White Ribbon campaign.

Agreed. I appreciate the acknowledgement in yesterday's welcoming of Susan Simpson that the directors are out of touch but true redemption will arrive with the positive actions that they take. Giving ground or strip sponsorship to an appropriate charity would be a great start.

I can see what you're saying, Clyde ignored it and while for example I noticed, they've probably got less bad publicity than what Raith did, I personally still think it's better to have put something out rather than nothing. With what's gone on its a tweet that was always going to be more difficult to get correct if you get me? Ignoring the day would've been really bad, I think the tweet was low levels of "ooft". With the new director being a PR specialist it's surprising that its missed the mark.
