Yeah he never misses the Tories. At a previous Glasgow gig he asked if he could stay up here. "As long as you're not a Tory" was the reply. "I'm a steel workers son from Sheffield, what do you fucking think?"

Just booked my tickets to see The Wedding Present at Shepherds Bush in October...  I'm as giddy as a schoolgirl!

It's the 35th anniversary of their album Bizarro, that they are going to play in its entirety, with other stuff thrown in (including some Cinerama stuff allegedly).

They are possibly my favourite band.

Yours, have you lost your love of life?  Too much apple pie.

If anyone's in Chicago the weekend of July 12th, Square Roots has a pretty stellar line up for a free street festival

Jah Wobble and Jon Spencer are the only acts there that I've heard of.

I like the sound of The New Pornographers and The Nude Party though..

Alan Sparhawk was one half of Low and probably who I’m most excited for - he’s done solo instrumental stuff before as well as a band without Mimi (the other half) called Retribution Gospel Choir. Interested to see whether he’ll be doing any of that or if he’s managed to write a load of new stuff.

For a free festival that's pretty stellar. Enjoy.

They've had big headliners before - Meat Puppets and Bob Mould come to mind - but the depth this year is quite something. I presume Jon Spencer will have to come on in daylight or near it (curfew is usually 10) which will be interesting.

Went down to see Eagles and The Doobies at that new fangled COOP Live last night. Both bands were top notch, the sound in the arena was very impressive but the crowd were, as expected, pish. The Tam Mullen in me is still reeling at the price of the pints but we had a rare night and I really enjoyed our night in Manchester. The tram system is excellent and very reasonably priced.

Inn Defence cafe/record shop in Dumbarton are going  to try to have a band on every Saturday afternoon after a successful first show at the weekend there. They have the excellent Gary's Rainbow Shop in on Sunday and I'll probably go down and check that out before I'm busy with the Clyde Cup Final in the evening.

Flamin Lips are playing the Usher Hall next May.

Saw them at the 02 years ago. Not sure my daughter's would be up for it! It's a Thursday night which is fortunate as they'll be at dad's!

Doing Yoshimi in full. It's a tempting one.

I saw the Flaming Lips support Mercury Rev almost 25-years ago to the day (give or take a month). Mostly playing Soft Bulletin era stuff. That would be one I’d like to go back and see in my time machine.

Found this somewhat grouchy review of the occasion. His reservations about the venue are mainly fair, as my recollection is that after an initial burst of gigs once Potterrow had been extended (1998 ish) it was hardly ever used again for that purpose.

I do remember it was a very small crowd, but I went to a lot of gigs then and I could very well be mixing this up with another night at Potterrow.

Stupid money on stub hub swift tickets. But when I told my daughter it's worth the melted credit card in corner.

Been transferred to axs account so fingers crossed.

I've James tonight.

My sister got one for Taylor when they released some tickets this morning. £60 to sit behind the stage and not be able to see anything. It's not my money I suppose.

There were ones barely with a view that were £60 being resold on StubHub for £300/400.
