In Canada's election last week both the Quebec Nationalists and the Liberals lost their leaders too. Lets hope Iain Gray does a hattrick!

Why are they using Braehead for counts BTW? Don't they normally use council property?

The SNP are going to own Falkirk judging by what i've seen as between 12-18 out of every 25 have been SNP.

:D

Eric Joyce killed the Labour vote in Falkirk

Mathieson has campaigned well through here

I'm concerned for Brian Taylor tonight, he may need a little sugar boost.

So I've come up with a food game for him.

For an SNP Seat Win - Eat One Minstrel

For a Labour Seat Win - Eat One Maltesar

For a Green Seat WIn - Eat One Muffin

For a Lib Dem Seat Win - Eat A Slice of Chocolate Fudge Cake.

For a Tory Seat Win - Packet of McCoy's (Flavours can vary)

I'd say that should keep him going!

I think the only thing we can learn from these upcoming seats (i.e. Rutherglen) is how well the key Labour message of fear has got across. We can't expect any SNP gains or any real inroads IMO, but Rutherglen is the sort of place where Labour have a strong core. If they get most of their core vote out (similar numbers and lead to last time) in these seats, then I think Labour won't have anywhere near the collapse some of the more optimistic posters on here are predicting.

Unless this is a whoosh, for the glasgow counts they use the SECC.

Ruth Davidson formerly worked for BBC and interestingly for a Tory is a lesbian.

Aye but is she related to (most likely sister to) Lorraine Davidson?

As you say, she did work for BBC. Presented newsdrive IIRC.

Braehead's in Renfrewshire. It's being used for the Paisley area seats AND the west region list votes.

Paisley town hall couldn't cope with the space required in one hall. The arena at braehead is next best.

To inject a bit of goings-on from down South and UK wide... suggestions the Lib Dems have lost 12 of their 15 council seats in Sheffield. Labour have taken a ward in Liverpool that sat at 51% Lib Dem, 25% Labour the last time it was elected.

Also clear the AV referendum is sunk, suggestions 'No' may land over 2/3 of the votes, although that'd surprise me tbh.

The London turn-out (no council or assembly elections there) is in single-figures!!

Braehead is doing Paisley and Renfrewshire counts I think and they were on BBC as counting 19,000 postal votes.

SECC is of course partly owned by the City Council.
