Anthony Fitzgerald
Neither of them are Latapy or Stokes but who else is in the team? The fact they've added different qualities we didn't have already makes them a loss when we don't play. To dispute their influence suggests you haven't seen much of the team before and after they've arrived.
gav-ffc
For every stokes and Latapy you need someone to feed them the ball. I.E - Kerr.
MrDust
Stokes isn't Stokes anymore...! I've been made to kinda eat my words regarding Kerr. We were plodding along fairly ok pre Kerr and Baird and I thot Kerr was a decent addition but not urgently required. He has had some great games for us, but the telling point was the Hearts away game, not only playing well, it was more so in that Vaulks slotted in at centre half and it didn't weaken us. Baird still the picking of the signings for me, tho Muirhead looked solid and no nonsense in the short period he was on the pitch on Friday. I've shuddered to think tho, how crazy legs Morgan would've performef in that wind on Friday, if we had went with our usual 4-4-2 formation
Bluegrass Bairn
In Baird's absence last Friday Loy had to drop deeper and wider and overall was less effective than we would have wanted. I think its pretty clear we will miss Bairds link up play, and his energy and mobility v Hibs. That's not putting him on a pedestal by the way, just makes him better than Morgan or Biabi.

He is so keen to get the ball into goal scoring areas that he tries to do it himself. Baird has given him the space and support to play a true attacking role. We don't have a player to fill that gap. If we play Morgan in the semi we would have to totally change our playing style for one game. Could work but not likely

ToonBairn
I see 2 decent players who've made a positive change to the team. You guys seem to see Messi and Ronaldo Agree 100% Gaz. Especially when already have the real Messi in our team Baird and Kerr have been good signings but can't be viewed as long term signings

gav-ffc
Baird will do a job for another season or two no bother. If you want to go back to playing Botti up top with Loy then see the goals dry up. Baird is exactly what we needed.

Caltrop
DEV LGE – FALKIRK 3 – 1 PARTICK THISTLE Falkirk’s workmanlike display produced a comfortable 3-1 victory over Thistle at the Falkirk Stadium. Aaron Muirhead and Alex Cooper started for the Bairns whilst Thomas Grant earned himself a starting spot after failing to come off the bench for Arbroath on Saturday. Thistle had former Tamworth defender Ben Richards-Everton in defence with first-team player Gary Fraser in midfield. It was pretty even stuff from the kick-off with little goalmouth action. Botti Biabi fired in a shot from 20 yards in the 7th minute but it lacked power and direction. Thistle’s Chris Dillon replied with a burst down the left three minutes later and his shot across goal rolled just wide of the far post much to the relief of the home defence. There was little for the fans to enthuse about though as much of the play was confined to midfield. The Bairns had a fair shout for a spot-kick in 27 minutes when Finlayson appeared to be pulled back as he raced into the box to get on the end of a Grant pass but the referee was having none of it. Five minutes later, the home side went ahead with a terrific goal. Blues and Grant were involved setting up KEVIN O’HARA who controlled the ball and confidently smashed a shot high past Waters from 15 yards. As the half drew to close, Thistle construed to spurn two great chances. Nisbet shot against the post after rolling his effort past Bowman then Docherty was the sinner when he latched on to a ball over the top but knocked his effort wide when it looked easier to score. HT FALKIRK 1 – 0 PARTICK THISTLE Falkirk went further ahead in 48 minutes and Thistle could only blame themselves. Liam Dick was allowed to control the ball down at the corner flag and there was no challenge as he swung in a cross towards the six-yard box. The unmarked Kevin O’Hara and BOTTI BIABI both had stabs at putting the ball over the line and it was the latter who could claim the goal as he finally forced it past Waters. Gary Fraser fired a 20-yard free-kick over the top in a token reply from Thistle with 55 minutes showing but the Bairns made it 3-0 a minute later. Slack play by the visitors in midfield allowed BOTTI BIABI to power his way towards goal and his powerful drive looked to be heading straight to Waters but it took a horrible deflection off a defender and spun high over the leaping goalkeeper into the net. Blair thumped a shot at Waters as Falkirk began to move the ball around with confidence and at that stage it looked to be a case of how many? Credit to Thistle, they plugged away and were rewarded with a penalty in 83 minutes after Gallagher had tripped Docherty. The midfielder dusted himself down and DOMINIC DOCHERTY celebrated as he confidently shot home from the spot. FT FALKIRK 3 – 1 PARTICK TH FALKIRK : Bowman, Finlayson, Dick (Johnson 79), Blair, Maybury, Muirhead (Gallagher 58), Blues, Grant, O’Hara, Biabi (Shepherd 67), Cooper. Subs not used: Fairbanks (G), Martin, McNab, Snedden. PARTICK THISTLE: Watters; Finnie, McMullin (McInally 16), Hendry, Richards-Everton, Leyden, McDaid, Docherty, Nisbet (McLaughlin 64), Fraser (McLaren 71), Dillon Sub not used: Cullen. Thundermonkey
Kiddy lives in this strange land where every youth player at Falkirk is a diamond in the rough that we criminally neglect, consigning them to the scrapheap.
