Nothing really. They had already lost the case in the High Court and HMRC stubbornly refuses to actually bring charges of tax evasion so it all boils down to a tax dispute. No prosecutions against officers of Rangers or Murray Group.

Rangers (RIP) now have an even bigger creditor bill and the taxi company and face painters now get less money.

It was always my concern, a deep rooted nagging based on the corruption that seems to be systemic within the top level of our football governance, that BDO were somehow going to manage to funnel the pot of money they have back into the hands of precisely the people who created the situation in the first place.

I think this finally kills off that possibility for good.

HMRC will possibly recover some money under the new legislation which taxes EBT loans not repaid by April 2019. As they won't be able to get it back from the company (because it is bust) under new rules they will be able to attempt to recover it from the employees. They couldn't do this in relation to the PAYE due on the payments to the EBT.

FYI, now it's confirmed they cheated, I'm claiming the 2003 Scottish Cup for Dundee.

And I the 2002 League Cup for Ayr United.
In all seriousness those trophies 'won' (cheated), must be removed from the record.
Won using an illegal tax avoidance scheme which no other club (note not company) could use: therefore an uneven playing field, or to put it another way, RANGERS CHEATED!

I can only hope some tax demands will be falling through the doors of the following,

Especially the biggest beneficiary - SDM got £6.3M

EBT beneficiaries

This table contains the names of Rangers players, coaches and staff who were beneficiaries of the Murray Group Remuneration Trust, and how much they received through that trust.

It also lists the names of people where the BBC has seen evidence that they received side-letters - a promise to make contributions to their individual sub-trusts.

BBC Scotland asked everyone in the Employee Benefit Trust scheme featured in the documentary Rangers: The Men Who Sold the Jerseys, broadcast in 2012, about their use of the trust.

None would tell us anything about their EBTs.

That is certainly true that large portions of the debt was run up under Craig Whyte's reign.

As for nagging corruption, there is actually very little the SFA or SPL could do at the time. Having rules about not trying to rip off the tax authorities has become a relatively new idea and bolstered by UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations which have seen FAs across Europe be forced to take on some responsibility for monitoring the financial situation of member clubs.

The main thing that has stood out from all these tax cases is that HMRC has never challenged the legality of EBTs. They have never argued the EBTs were set up to evade tax just that they don't have any tax relief benefits. The dissenting judge in the first appeal said she thought it was tax evasion and that HMRC hadn't taken a hard enough line in the case.

I don't know if it is possible with this final verdict for criminal charges to be brought against David Murray et al for tax evasion. If that happened and HMRC proved it in court I would change my stance on Lord Nimmo Smith's report being redone and trophies being stripped. Until then we are in the same place as when the initial appeal ruled where Rangers admitted multi million pound tax avoidance.

Just think of the amount of army boots the military could have bought with the tax money owed by Rangers.

As I said at the time,

~£100m owed,

Osprey body armour (not universally available at time of Iraq deployment ) ~£1k each

Army < 100k strong.

If rangers had paid their fucking taxes, every single soldier (who they w**k themselves into a frenzy about at any given opportunity) could have been deployed with personal body armour.

Their cheating cost lives. End of.
