Suffice to say most clubs shirt sales tend to vary dramatically from season to season. They might well have sold the thick end of half a million at some point during a bumper season but that wouldn't be a typical number. They would then have control of the assets and 51% of retail which they could secure a further loan against of say 20 mill whilst they wait for the share issue to be done. Then since they love the club and wanted to give them the money they could change the loans into shares. Job done. Here's a mechanism for you. King buys 100,000 ST books at 500 quid each and gives them away to Bears as a thank you gesture.
