Thank you, Lochnagar purchased.

The Lochnagar is very good. I picked up a bottle at the distillery a few years ago and kept it as a buy now drink later purchase ( I do a lot of those ). The distillery is a great wee one to visit and they showed us a room with around 12 casks in it and said proudly that this was the weeks production.

Better $500 loafers out there IMO.

(Though you can't expect much in that price range)

Are any of the supermarket own brand single malts worth a purchase?

Always meant to try one, but usually end up buying the better known stuff

They can be , it depends on the batch , possibly surprisingly , Aldi and Lidl do very good old single malts at good prices at this time of year

other stuff as I say is more variable

Every time I'm in Lidl my hand hovers over a bottle. Will pick one up next time I'm there

Lidl's selling a no age statement Tamnavulin for £20, thinking that is worth a punt. Am I wrang?

Wouldn't pay more than £20 for most supermarket shelf malt but you'll get what you pay for with them at that price. If you just want an easy sipper for Christmas I say go for it. It's decent for that.

Not much of a whisky drinker myself, but still enjoying the bottle of Balblair 05 someone gifted me a while back.

Received a bottle of "My Blend" Johnnie Walker today as an unexpected wee thank you present. Don't know anything about blended whisky, but looking forward to a wee sample later on.
