SaltyTON
I bought a set of six horror films from ministry of shite deals, someone pick one for me to watch tonight! I won't look up IMDb and see what they are about (although you can) before watching it in case it makes me not bother! The choices are Evil Never Sleeps, Axe, The Possessed, The Fear, Pieces and The Slaughter.
DomDom
Pieces could be anything, so go for that.
SaltyTON
Pieces could be anything, so go for that. I choose to believe it will be about evil pirates, searching for their 'pieces of eight' (my usual pub in Birmingham). I will be disappointed if it is not.
Gaz
He's obsessed with doing that and always will be. If he got to take charge of a remake of Alien you can be sure it would be littered with references to past films and characters of his. I really wish he could be prevented from ever making another film. Er, he makes films set in the same universe, with the same characters. That's why there are so many references and in-jokes. If he makes a film that has nothing to do with the View Askewniverse then they don't have any references or in-jokes at all.
Ebanda's Handyman Services
I caught the last half hour of The Iron Giant yesterday morning and it refreshed my memory as to how fantastic a film it is. Probably my favourite animated movie ever. 9/10.
Laid Back Maverick
"Into The Blue". Should be 10/10 for having Jessica Alba permanently in a bikini. It's actually an entertaining enough film with a lot of good underwater footage.
SaltyTON
Hancock (2008) Will watch the crappy horror one later tonight, but wanted something light just now. Will Smith is great at being so completely dismissive of everyone around him. Good heart-warming film where everything worked out in the end. *pretty obvious spoiler, but blanked for the naive. Surprise appearance from David (Johnny Galecki) out of Roseanne... haven't heard of him in years! Dr. Name
Inglorious Basterds - 9/10 Took a shot to take away the sour taste from 'Death Proof' and wasnt disappointed, not at all. Im not one of those people who think Quentin Tarantino is a god among men because he tries something different with his movies, but he shines with this movie. Cast was brilliant, one of the few situations where you wish you would have seen more of each character, maybe apart from the cinema owner, her story becomes tiresome. Also, Christopher Waltz is fantastic in it as Landa. Ending might annoy, even enrage people, but its entertaining.

I thought at times, tarantino overdid the dialogue because at times i just wished that they would have got on with the story, especially in the first chapter. Have to agree, waltz was wasily the best character in the show. I thought the best part in it was when they were undercover as italian photographers. It had me in stitches. 8/10.
Cowden til i die
I bought a set of six horror films from ministry of shite deals, someone pick one for me to watch tonight!I won't look up IMDb and see what they are about (although you can) before watching it in case it makes me not bother! The choices are Evil Never Sleeps, Axe, The Possessed, The Fear, Pieces and The Slaughter. Thats sounds ace. How much was it? I watched Alpha Dog again last night. When i first watched it i wasnt expecting to like it buti really did for some reason. The guy in it that was in 'Get Over It' probably played the best part and manages to create a wee bit of comedy in the film. A very good watch. 7.5/10 Very close to an 8
StewartyMac
tarantino overdid the dialogue He's bad for that. Works out not bad if the characters are genuinely interesting (Vega & Winnfield), less so if they aren't (the entire cast of Death Proof, other than Kurt Russell)
Mak
Shooter - 7/10 The sort of film that does exactly what it says on the tin. Pretty obvious plot where Mark Wahlberg's character (the amazingly named Johnny Lee Swagger, ex army sniper) gets fucked over by some shadowy international organisation who want him dead and has to fight to clear his name. You can tell by the title exactly what it's going to be like, but for what it is it's pretty good. If you're looking for a brainless action movie, this is probably a pretty good bet.
SaltyTON
Thats sounds ace. How much was it? Was £6 including delivery... then the b*****ds had it back on a week later for £3.
Clyde4life
Goodfellas ( 1990 )A movie so fundamentally flawed, I can't quite understand why people love it so much. The biggest flaw is the lack of sympathetic characters. That's what seperates this from other great gangster movies. The guys in this movie are all just grade A c***s and that's pretty much the end of it. It just feels all tacked together. It's done in such a way that the two hours just fly past, but also in a way that makes it even harder to care about what's going on. There's lots of good here though. The plot is good and kept interesting by some terrific performances. There's some amazing scenes and some terrific work behind the camera from Scorsese. I can't even consider putting this in one of the top two marks though, because of what I said in that top paragraph. Still a really good movie though. 8/10 Bit surprised by your assessment about character quality, when it is based on a true story. If it's flawed because it happened, then go and watch Casino, which is basically Goodfellas 2 - but not based on a true story, where the characters are even more unlikebale!

A very good watch. 7.5/10 Very close to an 8 I would probably agree with your rating. Ben Foster (Get Over It guy) was brilliantly OTT in it and i also find myself really liking Justin Timberlake as an actor. Felt really sorry for the wee dude near the end too. It also gets extra points for fat Sharon Stone's "unstable" mother near the end. Unintentionally hilarious.

If it's flawed because it happened, then go and watch Casino, which is basically Goodfellas 2 - but not based on a true story, where the characters are even more unlikebale! If I want something completely true to life, I'll watch a documentary. Movies should always have the right dramatic touches. Which means there should be some sympathy generated for at least someone, and in all honesty, the plot wouldn't even have had to change in any way. Little changes in dialogue would have done it and nobody would have minded. Have to applaud Scorsese for being so gritty with it, but it ain't what I look for in a movie, and if a movie IS all b*****ds, it has to be something special. This wasn't.
SaltyTON
Wanted 5/10Probably a generous mark as it passed a bit of time. I can see why the moronic element of society would like it. There was a fair amount of action but it was just ridiculous. Very much a film that concentrated on the action. Very generous indeed to give that pile of crap pass marks! Fucking looms indeed...
thistleburd1876
orphan 8/10 quite a good film i thought. very jumpy. Could have done more to make it an 18 more blood and gore etc
