Having read a few reviews prior to its release I wasn't expecting much, but this turned out to be a wee gem. The locations really made it for me, Greenland and the Himalay were just stunning. chomp my root Posted January 23, 2014 Share Posted January 23, 2014 Just watched the 'Rambo' version of Judge Dredd for the first time on TV, I knew there was a reason I left it 20 (?) years, I used to be a big 2000AD fan and was, in P & B terms 'seething' that Stallone was cast in the role of Joe Dredd. 20 years later I ain't exactly seething but I'm glad I didn't spend a farthing or whatever it was in 90's money going to the moving pictures to watch it. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

My slight gripe is that the film comes to rather an abrupt and perhaps predictable end. It doesn't ruin the preceding 3 hours but it wasn't among the great Scorsese endings, and Wolf probably doesn't belong among the great Scorsese films. 9/10 Who were Liotta and Pesci playing 13 years ago? ETA: I presume you mean Goodfellas, which was released 24 year ago. I thought for a second there was a film I'd missed out on! 11thHour Posted January 23, 2014 Share Posted January 23, 2014 Kick Ass 2 - 3/10. Just unbelievably bad after enjoying the first one so much. I thought the acting was terrible, it wasnt funny and the script was really poor. 12 Years A Slave - 8/10. My main feeling was that I was slightly disappointed I wasnt engrossed in it like I thought I should have been. I was into it but not glued to it. The stand out for me in this film has definitely got to be Michael Fassbender, just unbelievable stuff from him. The accent was perfect, the intensity was there. Just a job well done. I also thought the ending was a bit sharp. Brad Pitt arrives, he tells his story, goes home and cries. Not sure what I was expecting and I know it's based on the real Solomon's memoirs but I thought it was too quick. Interviews the detective who dealt with Dahmer, his ex neighbour and the fella who dealt with the bodies. Really interesting watch. Oddly has little dramatised sections of an actor plating Dahmer buying acid, vats and mooching about but works well. 8/10. Yeah I saw The Royal Tenenbaums a few years back and loved it as well, I've been meaning to give it a watch again tbh. It's not a particularly interesting plot either. Money man goes corrupt, parties, gets jailed. Guid ane. Still a watchable film. 6.5/10 That's me now seen Taxi Driver, Goodfella's and the above and found none of them to be that great. I don't like Di Caprio either. I felt like walking out half way through. I don't like him.
