Johnny Mad Dog 7/10

Child soldiers running amok in an unnamed African country, would have been a lot better if I could understand what they were saying as their African dialect was almost impossible to understand

Was this on DVD? I had wanted to see this when it was supposed to be on in cinemas but I couldnt find it anywhere.

Over the last few days I've watched both Alien and Aliens. Both fantastic films, but manage to be completely different from each other

Both get 10/10

I will watch the under-rated Alien3 at some point, but we shall never mention the abominations that came afterwards. If I could have asked the lassie at HMV to take out the 4th disc from my box set, I would have.

Adrift. What a load of shite.People jump off a boat and forget to put the ladder down so they are left treading in the water trying to jump up onto the boat. This goes on for about an hour before they figure a way to get back onto the boat,by then half of them have died and the ending is just pish and explains fuckall about the film.

1/10 Just for the girls getting naked in the water and trying to make a rope out of there swimming costumes.

You should have, or given it to a tramp in a sadomasochistic gesture.

To get back in the groove, I did a double today.

Saving Private Ryan ( 1998 )

A bit of a journey this one. The battle scenes are amazing. And there's lots of them. Incredibly well shot. The story was engaging. Not much else to say, other than it could have done with out the melodrama in the climax. Wasn't needed.

9/10

The Hangover ( 2009 )

A ridiculous, dirty minded comedy with one of the biggest idiots ever. I love it. There are some scenes which I had to go back and watch over and over again. The tiger stuff was, for the most part, the best stuff. Commendable air drumming from Tyson even if his singing needs some work !

8/10

Death Sentence - 6/10

This is definitely a 'leave your brain at the door' type of film, and whilst i did like a lot about it, a lot of it was overly ludicrous. The dialogue bordered on hilarious at times, and featured possibly the least sympathetic police detective ever put in film. Also features a quite bizarre John Goodman cameo.

There is plenty of blood and guts (director of Saw), and it really is action packed and never boring, but it's not great.

The writer Leigh Whannell also acts in it.

Despite my dislike of Kevin Bacon, and enjoyment of his arrow-based death in Friday the 13th, this film is great. And the reasons on this thread from IMDb explain the numerous plot holes or errors... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0804461/board/nest/117152358

Just ordered some DVDs of amazon. I went for an Aussie-NZ feel and bought The Piano, Picnic at Hanging Rock and Gallipoli. This means I have about 15 DVDs I have to get through at some point. I was going to watch Breaking the Waves (sort of re-watch in that i saw about 45mins worth about 5 years a go) tonight but I think I will watch it tomorrow now instead, reviews to follow!

I'm the same, i've got about 10 or 12 i still have to watch. Think i'm gonna watch The Cooler and Sugarhouse tonight.

I fancy seeing Picnic at Hanging Rock myself, heard good things. Breaking the Waves is a very good film, but very hard going.

Picnic at Hanging Rock is a hidden gem of a movie. I loved it.

Fantastic. My dad had only good things to say about it. I am looking forward to this. I like the concept of the fim, an eerie Western Australian mystery set around 1900.

The Cooler - 8/10

Enjoyable film about Bernie (William H Macy) who works in a casino for boss Shelly (Alec Baldwin) by bringing bad luck to any gambler in it who is on a hot streak, just by being a total loser. His luck starts to change when he starts dating one of the casino's waitresses, much to Shelly's annoyance.

Baldwin is terrific in this, his character is a horrible guy but something about him is quite likeable. The ending was kinda predictable, but it didn't really take away from the film.

Sugarhouse - 6/10

British 'gangster' film about a posh guy who tries to buy a gun from a crackhead, only to discover that the gun in question has been stolen from local psycho Hoodwink (Andy Serkis) who is desperate to find it.

It's ok. It ticks over nicely enough, and Serkis' character is a terrifying guy, but it just didn't ring true for the most part.

The Wave - 8/10

Amazing. Based on a real-life experiment in California, this is about a teacher in Germany who, after asking his class could a dictatorship ever happen in Germany again, decides to start the ball rolling to see how quickly it develops.

This film is tremendous. Although the teacher's idea may seem to spiral out of control pretty quickly, it seems (and obviously was) pretty realistic. The ending is great, if shocking, too.

Recently I have watched the Saw series 1 through 5 and I must say what a series! It was the first time I had seen Saw 1,2 and 5. I must say Saw 1 has to be one of the best endings to a film I have ever seen - completely did not expect that happening! I'm going to rate it as a series as I can't remember the ins and outs of them all so I'd say - 7.5/10

There was also Role Models quite recently. What a hilarious film. There are so many one liners it cracked me up: "You think I done it cause I'm black?" and "Me and the judge have a special relationship... I don't wanna get too graphic but I sucked his dick for drugs." Then there is old faithful ... "You know what I used to have for breakfast? Cocaine. Know what I had for lunch? Cocaine." "What did you have for dinner?" "Was it cocaine?" what a great film, great comedy and a not too bad story either - 9/10

Went to see Its Complicated tonight.

It was very watchable and pretty funny in parts. Good performances from the veteran cast although it's definitely one for the girls. Wouldn't recommend it to a group of lads, but definitely one to take your girlfriend to.

Would give it 7/10

I can't believe anyone would dislike Kevin Bacon :o. He's a great actor IMO, although his choice in movies are maybe a bit questionable.
