I might start that book today. I have been reading Chernobyl Prayer which is a lot of accounts of ordinary people affected by the Chernobyl disaster. Although it's interesting, it is awfully sad and depressing so might be better to dip in and out of that one. Chernobyl Prayer is incredibly interesting but you’re right, it’s a depressing account. I dipped in and out of it when I read it. Took me a while to read. On Graham Greene, I’ve read 5 of his books this year and enjoyed them all in different ways. I’ve got another couple to read but taking a break from him and reading The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida just now.

Is the book you're reading now any good?

Cosmic Joe
Currently reading "All the Way to Bantry Bay" by Benedict Kiely. It's about a meander by the author and some pals from the North-East of Ireland to the South-West of the island. Written in 1978 he reflects on the history of the island as he journeys at a leisurely pace. I've started and put down/ restarted this several times, but making a concerted effort again, and am enjoying it.

Give Our Man In Havana a go, or for something more intense, try The Power and The Glory. I’m enjoying the book I’m currently ready. It’s a bit of a whodunnit with a twist, and set against the Sri Lankan civil war.

Another one to add to my list to check out.

Craig fae the Vale
No Kindness Too Soon by Sylvain Neuvel A quite brilliant novella about a radio signal from a distant planet, trying to figure out what it means and discovering what it means to be human. Superb.

Central Belt Caley
Never realised this thread existed until recently. Working my way through the Star Wars Thrawn trilogy just now, the first book Thrawn was brilliant. The second, Alliances, wasn’t as good but still a good read. Onto the last book Treason now.
scottsdad
I've been reading a load of Edward Gross books lately. How various TV shows and the like were made, with some interesting wee stories thrown in. I've read his ones on Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica and James Bond.

Richey Edwards
Finished Putin's People and started reading The Divider, which is about the Trump presidency. He sounds like even more of a fuckwit than I thought, and I didn't think that was possible.
Alexanderallen
After years of procrastination I have finally published my first book with a couple of others in the pipeline. It’s certainly not going to get any nominations, but would be great for some honest feedback here if anyone is willing to shell out 6.99 or waste a few bourse of their life if they have Kindle Unlimited. Of course, at least in Kindle/Amazon give it an okay rating so it doesn’t totally bomb, I have a wife and kids to feed https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CDR3LGBM/ref=mp_s_a_1_23?crid=1M3HEYDY62JBL&keywords=straight+to+hell&qid=1691204231&rnid=1642204031&s=books&sprefix=straight+to+hell%2Caps%2C468&sr=1-23 PS: posting this under my pseudonym.

Melanius Mullarkey
Finished The Plague by Bertie Camus. Lots of introspection and allegory. Was a decent time to read it having just come through a pandemic.
