dillinger
Heard his interview. It was a bit condescending the bit about Muslims serving in shops. Other bit about ones trying to kill you was fair enough.
Granny Danger
Heard his interview. It was a bit condescending the bit about Muslims serving in shops. welshbairn
God save Norn Oirland. The First Minister and his Deputy: Mr Robinson said that Mr McConnell had been demonised because of his remarks, and that there "isn't an ounce of hatred in his (the pastor's) bones". He went on to say that he would not trust Muslims either, particularly with regard to those who had been involved in violence, or those who are "fully devoted to Sharia law, I wouldn't trust them for spiritual guidance". However, Mr Robinson said he would trust Muslims to "go down to the shops" for him or to deal with a number of other "day to day issues". Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness of Sinn Féin called on Mr Robinson to show leadership in promoting equality, tolerance and mutual respect for all. In response, Mr Robinson said on Twitter that he would not "take lectures from a self-confessed leader of a bloody terrorist organisation". The two men have been meeting the Turkish ambassador on Wednesday. Hope the Turkish ambassador is ok.

LongTimeLurker
Looks like Jim Allister and TUV's performance was sufficiently alarming for the DUP that their drift towards the mushy middle to go after Alliance voters may be a thing of the past now. A tweet like that would be a lot more effective if it were coming from somebody, who wasn't involved with stuff like the Third Force and the invasion of Clontibret. The DUP weren't actively involved with paramilitarism at any point in an SF/IRA sort of way but they were at times very closely associated with people who were. Would have been better if a new generation of politicians could have taken over on both sides after the Good Friday Agreement.

LongTimeLurker
...or that he could have got somebody younger to sort it out or used a boat to get there. Bessbrook is a name that resonates from the early 70s. Was there something crass or unusually provocative about where the flags were placed? Wasn't able to access more than the opening sentence of the newspaper story.

LongTimeLurker
Finally got proper access. Here's the background to it.
