And if you want to get even further into things, they have a "colour" which isn't a real colour, just a way of saying which combinations can exist in nature. So you have red, blue and green, and then the anti-quarks (like the anti-up, which is different from a down!) can be anti-red, anti-blue and anti-green. You need to add up to white to have a legitimate particle so you need all three colours, or a colour and it's anti-colour to exist in nature.
