Eednud
Here's me thinking that someone had forgot to turn the clocks back. What was the Cup Final result? Down to the real stuff. A new league campaign starts with another 4 Aussie question day. 7/10 for me including 3 Aussies. Got the first 5 then 7 & 10. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/mind-games/quiz?quizId=5433§ionId=1

WhiteRoseKillie
Guessed the TV, Apollo and the larb, missed out on Aussie state and whatever the hell the Dally M give out gongs for. A pleasing eight, then. 18 minutes ago, The_Kincardine said: So the game's a bogey and I got 26/25. Hard lines, WRK Oh, if only I hadn't got forty-two...

Eednud
Dally M Awards are for National Rugby League and awarded to player of the year, coach of the year and a few others. Votes cast by journalists on a 3-2-1 basis for each round of the minor premiership. Names after Herbert Henry "Dally" Messenger who was supposedly an Australian rugby union league great way back when.

Cardinal Richelieu
Oh FFS. Hungover, got 3/10 in the league and my massive post about the cup result has been deleted. What a start to Monday morning. Anyway, if you want the answers look at WhiteRoseKillie's post as he got them all except the 39 to 107 question, which was "The number of steps to the presentation area in Wembley" (don't blame me for that question, blame the Derbyshire Quiz League!) The_Kincardine 11.5 - 24 WhiteRoseKillie Here's yer cup. Please keep it polished. Sigh.

The_Kincardine 11.5 - 24 WhiteRoseKillie Here's yer cup. Please keep it polished. Sigh. Cheers, YE. For those who haven't seen it (i.e. everybody but the Cardinal...), here's my Final answer sheet. Okey Dokey, here goes with my attempt at an unprecedented Double. Hell of a quiz, btw. Countries.# a. Ethiopa - damn those pesky Eritreans and their independence! b. Bolivia, I think. c. Kryzgystan? Please don't penalise the scrabble-inspired spelling if correct. Brands. a. The only place I've seen Victorinox is on the Swiss Army Knife, so I'll go with that. b. Quality Street. Thanks, Mrs Boswell (O Grade English teacher) c. Captain Morgan. One spelling two meanings a. Invalid b. Recreation c. Unionised. I liked that wee round! Ex-Teachers. a. William Golding? Can't remember his name as a Booker winner, but that's got to be Lord of the Flies. b. Jim "speedboat scam" Bowen, on Bullseye. c. Art Garfunkel? He certainly used to be a teacher, but I can only think of the one top hit. First/Last singles. a. Depeche Mode. b. Madness. c. The Fun Boy Three were on the first one, but they didn't last, as far as I know. Hence my final answer of Bananarama. Trivia. 1.Sir Chris Hoy 2. Numbering of the Superbowl. I guess a single "L" is kind of difficult to incorporate into an impressive logo/ad campaign. 3. Mental old Glenda Jackson. 4. David Cameron. 5. I assume Port Stanley - somewhere in the Falklands, anyway. 6. God alone knows. It's trebled, if that's any good. 7. There's a place called cavan near Scunny, so I'll say that. Cavan. 8. Alaska, surely. 9. It's a kind of light blue. 10. Is this one of those "witty" things lexicographers get up to? As it reads the same forwards and backwards, I'm going for palindromes. A fear of those would indeed be irrational, mind. Looks like I got credited with a point for a wrong answer, as well... Tainted Title, imo.

Incidentally, which question did I credit you incorrectly? Re: cup. There are 4 weekends in November, which goes well with a round of 16, 8, 4 and the final. However, it does mean we'll need to have a few "three way ties" in Round 1, which is no bad thing. Might even work in the real game. Neil Doncaster, if you're reading this and you fancy trialling 3 teams playing a match at once, give me a shout (and some money). I've even put together a wee video on how it might work...
