It's bad enough players having their kids all over the place at presentations and after matches but now it's started them holding their sprogs for the national anthems. Totally ridiculous.

I missed the start, who had their kids along?

Games been pretty even so far, just can't picture these England players managing the heat in Brazil for 90mins.

A couple of the Ecuador guys. It was just wrong.

To be fair to them, this is nowhere near what their defence will look like. Milner and Shaw providing some right comedy though.

Embarrassing, they are getting ripped to shreds. Rooney is a better defender than Shaw. Huge mistake to leave Cole out imo. Don't think Shaw is ready for this. Not for the sake of England but for the sake of football I really hope none of the back 4 in this game get a start in the World Cup.

Very exciting match so far.

England's defenders have been awful but there's definitely a massive improvement in terms of creativity in midfield compared to the match against Peru the other day.

England have Baines at left back who's more than adequate and will be playing as the starting left back for sure. Pushing Shaw and Milner too far was clearly a bit of an experiment that has gone laughably wrong. I'd wager that neither Milner or Shaw will start and if they do, they won't be pushed like they have in this game.

Another thing worth noting is just how shite Rooney has been. He's seen a fair bit of the ball and just runs into trouble and passes it back to someone in a worse position than he was originally in. Oxlade-Chamberlain has been the only guy who's really impressed me so far.

Can't read too much into a game like this of course as eyes will be on the big one.

Goal scorers like Wayne Rooney who has never scored a World Cup goal.

Forgot Lampard was even playing.

The Ox is probably the only one with pass marks just now. Barkley looks good until he has to make a decision, experience will sort that out.

Roy better hope his centre backs don't get injured or sent off in Brazil. Smalling is seriously bad. Imagine if Davie Moyes signed him for Man U...

The thing about Shaw is he's only one injury away from starting all England's games which he doesn't appear to be ready for. It's the World Cup Finals so no place for thinking further ahead than the next few weeks. You surely have to have the strongest 23 available and that would be Cole instead of Shaw at the moment. By all means take some of the younger 'almost' guys along for the experience but don't have them in the actual squad.

Cracking finish by Lambert.

Howay the lads

Invented the game, used to dominate the game, hopefully we bring are "A" game to Brazil

Not sure about that. Stirling Castle was the home to the oldest fitba discovered. Was good enough for FIFA's museum in the German WC a few years ago. Unless the English have any hard evidence that predates the 1540s? In fact, maybe football is another 'Gaelic game' given the nature of Stirling at the time?!
