The voting public, of course, are absolute gimps and made a mockery of the full thing. Absolute state of this man.

Ludo*1
Eurovision producing a political vote winner was never a surprise. We finished 2nd and probably would have won if the war in Ukraine wasn't happening. That's something to be proud about. Even though Ukraine's song was utter shite, it's well played that that's all that beat us. Tunes like France and Moldova got shite returns for being better than us. Swings and roundabouts. Really happy with our performance. Nice wee moral victory to finish runners up from nil points last year.

That's something to be proud about. Not sure. I think the war has made people forget about Brexit. Also, while he's clearly a twat, Johnson seems to have built up some popularity in Europe through his good relationship with Zelensky. It was easily the best GB song for years but I'm not sure it would have won if not for the changing political focus in Europe. The UK got Ukraine's 12 votes and Johnson's Churchill act probably impressed a few while Germany was dithering. Germany came bottom btw. If Ukraine won because of politics they weren't the only ones whose vote was affected by it.

welshbairn
Forgetting about Ukraine, how come Moldova got such a radically different vote from the public and the juries? All i needed was for them to come in the top four

Having some of the most egregiously bad musical taste in Europe probably doesn't help. Edit: aye, their best finish in the six of the past seven competitions has been 25th, finishing bottom three times For all the moaning about nobody voting for the UK, it's more that the rest of Europe thinks that the traditional political European powerhouses have been churning out bland, mediocre dugshite for a couple of decades. We're not the only ones punished for it. Edited May 15, 2022 by BFTD
UpInTheAyr
Pros; Europe doesn't hate us any more. Ukraine won and gave us 12 points.Cons; I missed the Spanish performance.
Bully Wee Villa
Germany did win not too long ago. Similarly to the successes of Austria, Israel and Portugal, there victory showed that you can win despite not having loads of votes from friendly neighbours.
