RiG
Cardiff being linked with a move for Hayes. I'd be very surprised if Hayes did leave. He loves life in Scotland and I don't think he's desperate to head back south any time soon.

Must be tempting to have the chance to double his salary (at least) for a year or two now he's almost 30 though. Saying that, I don't think the £500k being reported is nearly enough for us to sell our best player.
Kneetrembler
McGinn was over giving his shirt to a young fan at the end of the match at Tynecastle. Hope I am wrong, but I thought at the time that was a sure sign he thinks hes played his last game for the Dons.
Elixir
Aberdeen's best player coming to the Hearts for nout. Still, he too clearly sees how much further ahead we'll be in the coming years, so it's a no-brainer for him, really.
RussellAnderson
IMO McGinn would be more likely to leave than Hayes. Hayes has a kid and a partner and seems more settled. If McGinn does leave Nox might have to shut down due to lack of custom though
jmothecat
I think the temptation of a payday in England could push McGinn away, would be a loss to the club but I can understand why he might want to give it a go.
Dons_1988
I always felt this would be mcginns last contract with us. He's given us 5 good years and at 29 probably has one good move left in him. However, I'd be surprised and disappointed if it turned out to be hearts but if he does go c'est la vie, id stop short of wishing him luck though! My bigger concern would be that it signals the break up of this squad. Here's hoping it's not.
shootingboots
I don't think losing McGinn is that bad. He's no longer an automatic first pick, he's nearly 30, and he must be on ~£2.5k per week. Would be weird if he chose to go to Hearts though.
RandomGuy.
Hearts are seemingly offering a wage rise, long term deal and a promise he'll be played as a central striker.
gudge1903
probably just wants a break from early european starts. hasnt had a break in a few years so going to hearts will give him a breather at the end of season and some league cup group games to get him ticking over. if he does go id imagine it will be tight fight between hearts and tommy wrights st johnstone for 4th . my money would be on the experienced wright when he gets his usual bargain or two in.
jmothecat
He's off to San Francisco. I know there's a Dubai trip planned for the rest of the team, is that later or is McGinn been given some time off to make up for the summer?
betting competition
Don't think Aberdeen should break the bank on a very average player like McGinn. McGinn gives us balance in the team but at times he looks like he isn't giving 100% and for the majority of this season has been dreadful. I always thought he would be looking at a last big move but would be surprised if he picked Hearts over Aberdeen as their turnover isn't near Aberdeen and there is a doubt over new management team going with the performance against Aberdeen. I'm more concerned at losing our 3 best players on this transfer window (Hayes, Rooney or Lewis) Edited January 3, 2017 by betting competition

He will be very difficult to replace when he does leave.

I know which player I would rather keep. Edited January 3, 2017 by KingswellsRed
Dons_1988
A lot of our support seriously underrate McGinn. Consistency is an issue but he's one of our best players no question.
Romeo
Hope Aberdeen don't stop McGinn going to a bigger club. -
williemillersmoustache
Agree with much of what's been said, McGinn has had a great stint with us, delighted to have had him so long and I can't grudge him a big move.I would grudge him a clear step down to hearts though. A talent like that would be wasted at a yo-yo hammer throwing outfit.
shootingboots
Some stats: 12 goals and 4 assists for McGinn in 2016. Rooney 17 goals, 12 assists. Hayes 8 goals, 21 assists. Shinnie, Maddison & Logan also with more assists than McGinn. From AFC By The Min on Twitter. Apologies if posted earlier in this thread.
Elixir
Ooft. Just look at some of the lengths they're going to in a desperate attempt to rationalise this and kid on they're not that bothered.
