Everyone with a double barrelled surname, especially footballers.

It's not the 17th century and your aren't going for twit of the year. Pick a surname and stop being a twat.

It was something that gained prominence in the 90s as a form of revolution against snobbery, possibly as a reaction to the preponderance of landed gentry being slave owners and traders back in the 18th Century. I agree that it is now tedious af, especially when used by white middle class so called socialists who do everything they can to avoid paying taxes.

I thought that people who created double barrelled names nowadays (as opposed to inheriting them) were all fake tan types who think it sounds fancy.

It stemmed from people registering their children with both parents surnames, the fake tan will be strong in a high percentage of the North London types that the trend originated from nonetheless, because they will, of course, be Champagne Socialists.

That doesn't sound likely to me. There wasn't much furore about 18th century slave owners in the 1990s to my recollection, certainly not enough for folk to deviate from convention when it came to naming the fruit of their own loins. Surely it was more an anti-patriarchal move?

Anyway, it's a bit nonsense as what do you name a child born to two parents with double-barrelled surnames? [insert witty answer here.]
