The Master
The BBC are allowed into Ibrox under their contracts with the SFA and SPFL. But The Rangers still refuse to speak to them - which is why I see this as an attempt to curry favour by pumping money into the sinking ship. craigkillie
Swap rangers game for Saints game. I would have them kicked off at appropriate times, from around 3pm for example, to allow travelling fans to the game without having to get up at a ridiculous time. You'd have all three televised games kicking off at the same time in that case.
Scary Bear
I too am surprised they have selected Rangers v Raith, and moreso that the BBC have: does Rangers not still boycott the BBC in some shape or form? I think Sky was always going to take Dundee-Celtic, but I personally thought BBC would take Stranraer-DU, and Sky would then toss-up between Rangers-Raith and QotS-St Johnstone. The BBC will probably hype our game as revenge for the Ramsdens Cup victory over Sevco. Bit more difficult to come up with a narrative to capture people's imagination when it comes to QoTS v St Johnstone, even if St J are the holders. The Master
I don't care. The broadcasters do. If they were obliged to have all three games kick off at the same time, the money would drastically reduce.

palmy_cammy
Celtic and The Rangers draw the most viewers it's hardly a shock decision. Queens v Raith is a guaranteed tv pick in the next round anyway. Alba can't get enough of this glamour tie.
AberdeenBud
Sadly there's thousands of armchair bigots out there so Celtic and Sevco will always get chosen first.
RandomGuy.
The last eight games between us and Queens in Dumfries has seen thirty one goals being scored and only two of those games saw a victory by more than one goal. History suggests it'll be a high scoring, close game, with a larger than usual support due to the lack of this fixture these days. Rangers v Raith has been on tv about four times in the last few years and has generally been utter shite or one sided, considering Raith are so fucking awful just now it really makes no sense to show it, apart from this obvious obsession with showing the Old Firm to attract viewers to a channel that doesn't rely on viewing figures. third lanark
Does the tv money not get shared around all the clubs? Or is the BBC using our licence fee to subsidies the Govan dinosaur? For Scottish cup games its only the teams in the televised game who get the money. So your right in the match you are talking about it will be only Raith and the team who play in Govan who get the money

We've been on the telly twice against Rangers. Both times were in 2014. We managed to win one of them. We are poor to watch, but so were Saints when they recently lost to Rangers. We are poor to watch, but so were Saints when they recently lost to Rangers. We were brutal but so were Rangers. Simple facts are that the Saints v Queens game should be the better game as both teams are fairly closely matched and both are finding form, while historically its a high scoring fixture. Raith v Rangers is between a team miles out of form against a superior opposition who are at home. Its a complete no-brainer which one to choose out the two, yet the BBC still hold this belief that the viewers they lose by showing such a horrific tie is compensated by the fabled Old Firm support who's viewing figures never really stack up to be all that much greater than non Old Firm matches. K-Koke
c***s need to dry their eyes. It's all about the viewing figures, considering how many Rangers fans they are in Scotland, plus all the obsessed who watch our games makes it no suprise why it was picked ahead of games which would attract low viewing figures. Technically it's the SFA that pay the TV fees, but it's the broadcasters that paid the SFA in the first place. The broadcasters also pick the games and so dictate where the money goes. Now that Stevie May has moved on, maybe the BBC don't see anything special in the St Johnstone v QoTS game that warrants a TV appearance. Personally, I blame Chic Young.
