The Greenock Morton Thread - It's Better Than Yours

McKinnon to Falkirk?

I'd be stunned if that was the case. Only source is a Sun journo so I'll wait until there's a credible source on this one.

We only got the team photo taken yesterday

....... and he’s gone.
Wtf is happening?

I dunno whether to laugh or cry.

The Falkirk Herald has called it. That's credible enough for me.
Fucking hell.

He was pish anyway
Bring back Duffy
Spoiler [emoji20]

Ray McKinnon confirming himself as the biggest arsehole in Scottish football (not that it needed confirming). A truly perfect fit for Falkirk IMO.

Waaft what a diddy club.

Hilarity aside, McKinnon is obviously a c**t of the highest order, better finding out early doors imo, lower championship/league 1 manager in my book anyway.

I’ve seen a lot of shit over the years following Morton but this will be right up the top in the “banter years” f**k sake.

Morton 🤣 the diddies diddy.

Apparently no compensation required to be paid by Falkirk

Summer was the time but the club has a chance to correct its mistake now. And appoint him chief executive and chairman for life while we’re at it and empty that useless clown Hawke. Iron Man is making even Gillian Donaldson’s tenure look smooth and competent by comparison.

Stupid from McKinnon. Falkirk is a crap job just now with a lot of pressure and hes saddled with a large squad of duds. Could just as easily get hounded out there like Houston and Hartley.

Probably the most  sensible post I've read regarding McKinnons departure....in short...its ' ALL ABOUT THE MONEY'...cheerio Ray...thanks for installing a good team...we find a new leader and move on.

As much as it’s a total riddy losing a manager to a relegation bound U21 team, for Morton this has to be an opportunity not a problem.
We appointed mediocre McKinnon when we had about 3 players and were flailing about following another 4th quarter calamity under Duffy.
With a squad that boasts the best midfield in the league, we’re a much sexier proposition now.
I expect a significant upgrade.

Funnily enough we are still top of the league, and you’re bottom.

Some of today’s highlights. What a day. What a club.

So you're saying McKinnon is mediocre, but in the same post you're saying he took you from flailing about with three players after a calamity, to a squad with the best midfield in the league and a far better proposition?

Erm yes, because I'm sure his decent ability in the transfer market will serve you well in the 35 seconds you've got until it slams shut until January.

We upgraded the manager over the summer by a degree but the playing squad has been improved to a greater extent. If we don't appoint some absolute clownshoes failure - and that's always a big if at Morton - then we'll have a decent-good season regardless; while you'll still probably be sent packing to the seaside leagues. In fact I believe we go to Grangemouth on the third last game of the season; it'll just make it all the more delicious to hammer the final nail in your horrible little coffin.

It is with sadness and a tinge of resentment that I have to report to our supporters that Ray McKinnon and Darren Taylor have intimated their resignation tonight.

While we have rejected their resignation as they are contracted to the club until 31 May 2019, it does appear that they have left us prematurely.

Ray McKinnon was an outstanding candidate through our interview stages and came into the club having only four players under contract.

Ray did a fantastic job in a very short space of time in putting together a team with a backbone of experience that not only played good football but displayed enormous drive and determination.

Ray and Darren raised the bar and I really thought that we had something great going on. My relationship with Ray seemed to be fantastic.

And while he was only contracted until 31st May 2019, I genuinely thought that we had somebody special who shared our vision moving forward.

I was at Parklea only this morning watching our team going through their final preparations for tomorrow’s encounter with Partick Thistle and I was to blown away by the camaraderie and dedication all the players showed towards Ray and Darren.

I spoke with Ray about his formations for tomorrow’s game and he intimated that he wanted to delay his starting eleven until he got to Firhill tomorrow.

I left the training ground on an absolute high and on my way back to my car I received a phone call from Falkirk to ask permission to speak with our manager.

I was told that the friendship and the regard that Falkirk had for our club was important which was why they chose to ask permission to speak to Ray.

It is ironic that six hours later, Falkirk announce Ray McKinnon as their new manager and to me it is clear that there could have been previous discussions with our manager ahead of their phone call to me.

We will be speaking with the appropriate counsel on our options moving forward, and we will keep our support up to speed as we look to fill our vacant managerial position.

I have spoken with Jim, Midge and Tids personally tonight to apologise to all the boys who bought into Ray’s vision and to reassure them that we will still deliver for them.

The three of them all told me that their determination and team bonding has increased ten fold. We certainly look forward to this.

Tomorrow at Firhill, Derek Anderson and John Sutton will take the reins and will be in the dugout together and I would ask all our supporters to get right behind the team.

Let’s do this together!

Have to agree with you here m8. A top 2 or 3 day in my time on P&B and Morton played their part. Made it all possible through their diddiness.

We aimed for the top two managers in the league and got one of them. The other one who will stay at Ayr all his days due to his unique circumstances. Even better, we don’t have to pay the club any money for him. What a time to be alive.

Snake getting hounded for being snake shocker.

I'm really pleased with that statement. McKinnon just comes out of it looking like a cock.
