Professor John Curtice on 5Live talking about a report Andrew Wilson has been working on that may answer the currency issue.
He also debunked the 'you must join the Euro' chat.

Wilson will be under pressure to deliver a credible plan within weeks.

How did Curtice "debunk" that "you must join the Euro chat"?

The EU's Treaties require all new Member States to adopt the Euro after meeting convergence criteria. Only Britain and Denmark have opt-outs from joining the Euro.

And how many new members have done so? All of them?

No countries have been forced to join. Sweden meets all the convergence criteria apart from ceding authority to the European Central Bank, which they have refused to do. There have been zero repercussions. They "commited" to join the euro when they entered the EU 23 years ago.

As this is Pie and Bovril I am going to put this in Fitbaw terms:-    If you are struggling to manage a pub side you shouldn't be putting yourself forward for a Premier League managers job.

Education ?  Fecked

Local authority services ? Fecked

Business growth ? Fecked

Life expectancy ?  Fecked

There is so much that the Scottish Government should be doing but instead they do very little, let  the country decline and blame the UK government for everything.  It's the "a big boy done it and ran away" excuse.  Time the SNP grew a pair and showed they are leaders and not moaning minnies.

Why? Do you apply similar rules to the UK Government, which in the nine months since the Brexit referendum has given the electorate no clue about its plans. Why should Wilson be 'under pressure' to produce a plan about #scotref (at best 18 months away) 'within weeks'?

That said, I'm sure it's not far off, given that he's been teasing about its content for a couple of weeks now.

If your problem is that the Scottish Government blames the UK Government for everything, surely you'd be in favour of the Scottish Government 'growing a pair' and showing they can run an independent country?

The media will put the pressure on Wilson. It was a key issue in the last referendum.

The UK Government is wise not to reveal its detailed Brexit negotiating stance. It's like revealing your hand in a poker game.

Similarly, the SNP would be unwise to reveal its ScotExit negotiating stance. That deal will be even more complex than Brexit.

If we vote for independence, you can vote for whatever party you like.

This is not an election and it's not a popularity contest.

To push it back to you in a way you might understand - If you don't understand the offside rule you probably shouldn't be lecturing others about it.

Not sure 'keeping the pound' will have quite the same appeal this time around. As long as we hear something sensible. A Scottish Pound pegged to the UK pound would do me. (I've personally no problem with the Euro).
