Sweden meets all the convergence criteria apart from ceding authority to the European Central Bank, which they have refused to do. There have been zero repercussions. The UK Government is wise not to reveal its detailed Brexit negotiating stance. It's like revealing your hand in a poker game. This is not an election and it's not a popularity contest.
