Ian Blackford told to "f**k off" and "Go to the chippy" by opposition members. More fuel to the fire. Jockoland bad crew still defending the Union though. Incredible stuff.
That's uncalled for. Wee Blackford obviously needs no encouragement to "go to the chippy". Seems to have that down to a fine art on his own.

Could the Yes vote be benefitted by the promise of a Scottish GE immediately after Independence?

It may help dispel the notion that voting indy is voting for the SNP?

I think it would take a few months at the barest minimum to see new parties form in the aftermath of an independence vote. They'll be significant support, imo, for whichever party is seen as a successor party to the SNP as well. There probably needs to be a greater articulation of alternative independence visions to the SNP's before the campaign really gets going again but the SNP are unlikely to want that either and they're the hegemonic force for indy like it or lump it. The alternatives are fairly marginalised at this point.

ETA: I honestly think anyone who says the SNP are the reason they're not voting for independence is not going to change their mind in the near future anyway. The SNP don't really offend anyone beyond their desire for breaking away from the UK, they're pretty timid in most other respects.

Always thought this. Also think SNP should offer the major parties cabinet seats in the event of a yes vote and GE win (for the transition only)

The danger could be that you'd get a huge turnout of angry unionists electing people determined to sabotage independence. It will require a committed Government determined to make it progress by making the work happen quickly and able to quickly make decisions. Inviting willing partners from other parties on to the Cabinet might work, but I think it would have to be initially SNP led. There will be a huge amount to do.

Jesus, who do you think the stellar candidates the major parties would nominate are?

There would obviously have to be an election as soon as Scotland became independent.

How could the SNP claim to govern a new nation without a mandate. That's blood on the streets stuff.

Hysterical nonsense.

Holding the vast majority of seats at Westminster and being Scotlands continuing party of govt at Holyrood is more than enough of a mandate to form a transitional government.

The only argument would be if any of the current unionist politicians are talented enough or indeed trustworthy enough to be handed a role in the transition.....and the length of transition period

Day one of independence. No Government. That would work.

How soon after independence do you expect to see a party founded who try and force the reunification of Scotland and the UK?

I’m gonna go for it to happen within a day backed by dodgy money.

Have the election near the end of the transistion then.

Quite....there will obviously be two notable periods of transition. Transition pre independence and transition post independence.

I would imagine a sensible period for elections would be somewhere between 6 months to 2 years post independence.

Just enough time for all the roasters who say they will leave to leave.

"Independence means there will be no going back" - Gordon Brown, Alistair Darling and every other unionist circa 2014
