William Hill Scottish Cup 2015-16 - Big Thread

From a day out perspective, it should be a belter. Train prices are quite steep so hoping we can scrape enough numbers together and get a bus booked.

Friends' fare tickets are £48 for four, and are normally though not always available.

Decent away day but would obviously have preferred one of the weaker teams from the Highland league. We have beaten Brora and Turiff in the last two seasons both of whom were top of the Highland league at that time. We do have a better team compared with the last few seasons but it is still very much a banana skin like Spartans last season.

FAO Mo fans- Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale play at the Edinburgh Council owned Saughton Enclosure.

This is in the West of Edinburgh near to Murrayfield and Tynecastle. In fact you can get off at Balgreen Tram stop and walk there, making it probably the only ground in Scotland you can get to by tram!

The pitch is surrounded by an athletics track and has no cover unless you like sheltering under trees.. Refreshments are usually provided by vending machines in the dressing room complex although there was a burger van there when we played them last.

LTHV had a good result against Kelty in the last round and it isn't an easy match for the Gable Endies.

Tam you forgot to mention the pitch is usually like a ploughed tattie field.

Now that Tynecastle groundshare with Lothian Thistle and therefore the pitch is used every Saturday - and lots of midweeks - more work is apparently being done to the Saughton Enclosure surface by the clubs. I'm sure there will be catering vans for this tie, indeed I'd heard that there have been ones for league games recently. As stated there is no cover.

I imagine this will be the biggest game in Lothian Thistle's history - they have won local amateur competitions, EOSL and senior cups; reached the Scottish Amateur Cup Sf; and faced Berwick Rangers and maybe Livingston in the East of Scotland Cup... indeed we meet them in last season's final next Saturday... but hosting a Scottish League team in R2 of the Scottish Cup is really another level.

There isna a town called Formartine. They play at Pitmedden. Paterson was the manager till near the end of last season.

Don't tell the Clyde fans that, I was looking forward to them smashing up their Sat Navs.

you may think that... I couldn't possibly comment! But here's a nice sunset over Saughton Enclosure... with added DEVIL'S ILLUMINATION...

7am train from arbroath for Brora, will be some scoop!

How many of you lads are doing this?

Surprisingly seems to be an awful lot of people up for this 10 hour slog. Tickets are only £50 there and back, cheap day out, just few litres of vodka and tinnies as well as 2 hours in the social club to pay on top of that.

If you're prepared to pay £50, surely it'd be cheaper to hire a bus?
