The Terrible Journalism & Tom English Thread

Along with the "crack" of being with his fellow St Johnstone fans.

As well as being factually debatable, surely David Allison, who presumably is paid to write that garbage, knows the difference between crack and craic?

It's probably the only part of the article that's defensible. 'Crack' is a middle-English word, which the Irish imported in the 1950s,  cringingly Gaelicised in the 1990s, and sent back to us.

What the heck is this guff?

There's enough shite statistics around to fill an, ahem, infographic, but what the sweet jeebus is the difference between 'shots' and 'total shots'? Is the former 'shots on target'? Can't be, as it's a larger number. So Total Shots must mean Shots on Target; i.e. something completely different. Good job.

As an aside, I am still implacably opposed to the whole "assists" thing. Urgh. I saw "secondary assists" the other day too which is even more revolting. Ice hockey thread for that pish.

In the modern game, Hector Enrique would get credited with an assist for his pass to Maradona for his second goal against England in the '86 World Cup, even though Maradona received it in his own half and still had to beat about 27 players before scoring.

Stop when the fun stops. Is that why they put what they thought was the Scottish Premiership at the end?

Up for work and half asleep so no link but there's an article on BBC sport website about a disabled Saints fan.

Apparently his favourite game was a non existent SC final victory over Celtic in 2014 with the winner coming from Danny Swanson who wasn't even with Saints at the time.

The factual inaccuracies are only the most glaring problem with this article. The deeper problem is the way if presents someone with cerebral palsy as childlike. What relevance does his favourite game or favourite goal to do with his shambolic treatment? Is it normal, when reports of fans being treated appallingly at football grounds, to be asked what their favourite goal was?

What bookie is that out of interest? They don't seem to offer much choice of fixtures if European Leagues and leagues below the "SPL" (sic) aren't available to bet on.

William King.

Not sure if they have shops outside of Glasgow.

A wife beating jakey alcoholic bigot mess who's most famous goal was against Scotland for England.

A Scottish football legend right enough.

It really is a joke. I think that the compliance panel should have a look at this.
