peasy23
Impressive performance from team GB in the Billie Jean King Cup. Wasn't expecting us to have a chance, but winning both singles matches and the doubles against Spain means we are through to the semi finals. Still don't expect us to win it, but we are doing better than expected We know that Dart and Watson can dig out a performance now and then, but the two inexperienced girls in the doubles did brilliantly under pressure to win it.
JR74
Made the last minute decision to nip along to Friday's ties. Really excellent value for £10 tickets. Caught the doubles of Canada v Switzerland and then USA v Czech. First set of Gauff's match in particular was a great watch.Wasn't a particularly big crowd, but hopefully more tickets sold for the semis/final over the weekend and some decent matches too.
Donathan
I just realised that Wimbledon this coming summer will be the ten year anniversary of Murray’s first title there. I wonder if that might be a fitting time to call it a career.
GaryMc93
Tough 1st round draws for Murray and a couple of the Brits. With the form he's in be interesting to see how much trouble Draper can cause. Andy Murray vs Matteo Berrettini Jack Draper vs Rafael Nadal Kyle Edmund vs Jannik Sinner

Andy Murray vs Matteo Berrettini Jack Draper vs Rafael Nadal Kyle Edmund vs Jannik Sinner I think Draper has the best chance of the three. He’s a cracking young player and has got top ten potential IMO. Nadal also looks like he could be finished, but been thinking that for years tbf. Got to feel a bit sorry for Murray drawing Berrettini for the second slam in a row. The Italian dealt with him fairly easily in New York in September, hard to see how anything different happens this time around. I can see Sinner winning a slam this year, Edmund won’t cause him any problems. Edited January 13 by Lex
Lex
First day of the Aus open done then, and no major shocks. Nadal beat Draper in four, Sinner beat Edmund in three, but Cam Norrie is through with a straight sets win, he will play Lestienne in round two. Andy Murray plays Berrettini in the early hours of tomorrow morning GMT.
Loki
Murray must have read Lex’s post. Currently two sets to love on Berretini, playing vintage tennis from yesteryear.
Loki
Couldn’t keep that performance level up and we are into a fifth set.

Connor7
Match point down in the last set, he was toiling on his serve at points. But what a tie break, he was ruthless. Onto the second round
GaryMc93
Glad to see I didn't jinx him completely. Turned it on at 2-1 in the 3rd set only for Murray to fail to convert a break point for the first time and get broken in the next game. Hopefully Kokkinakis v Fognini goes 5 sets.
Lex
Great win for Murray that, and the biggest upset of the first round. That's the first time he's beat a top 20 player at a major since 2017. Could he this be the tournament he gets that run to the second week? His opponent in the second round won't be seeded but they will be tricky. It will either be his long time nemesis Fognini, who he has a 50% win record against, or the Aussie Kokkinakis, last years AO doubles champion with the home crowd behind him. If it goes to seeding and he wins that he will have Batista-Augut in the third round and then second seed Casper Ruud in the fourth round. It's doable, he won't face a player as good as Berrettini till Ruud.
Elixir
He's winning it IMO.

JR74
Can't quite remember the last time I celebrated a Murray win as much as I did watching that this morning. Outstanding stuff. Huge scalp and more than deserves a win of that sort after all he's come through. As Berrettini came back into the match, it almost felt like there were shades of the tie against Tsitsipas at the US Open a couple of years back (minus the antics) where the younger pro ultimately went on to see out the match. Murray really had to dig deep in those last couple of sets as Berrettini held his serve. How many Murray classics have we been treated to over the years now?
JR74
Nadal out in straight sets to Mackenzie McDonald, but by all accounts was playing through injury. Raducanu v Gauff up next on Rod Laver.
Donathan
In not great Andy Murray news, Kokkinakis has made light work of Fognini who is being accused of lack of effort. The match was suspended due to rain but the Aussie is leading by 2 sets and a break.
