Detournement
The UK government acknowledging that there are mass graves of Africans and Asians who were effectively slave soldiers in WWI should make for an incredibly entertaining poppy season this year.

WhiteRoseKillie
Can see someone producing a specific style or colour of poppy for this, which would be cringeworthy but amusing for the reaction among poppy purists. In all seriousness, is there any aspect of "are proud history" that isn't tainted by us (as in the British authorities/Government/establishment) being absolute cúnts?
Bully Wee Villa
I'll be upset if I find out that our Sandy Shaw's glorious Eurovision triumph was somehow funded by slavery or tainted by colonialism.

Seriously those who have spent the last 10-15 years turning a day of respect & reflection into a chest beating orange walk esque event deserve some serious shit. it's actually horrible now and they have ironically missed the entire point of it

BFTD
Is that a shell casing sewn into the side? Clearly disrespectful for that chair to be used by anyone other than a woman with a line drawn up the back of her leg.

Lofarl
The really funny thing about most these poppy shaggers is they mostly have lesser knowledge of WW1. The event the poppy was used as a symbol for. Mostly because television prefers to cover its younger sexier brother WW2. Ask any gammon about any British WW2 battle and they can probably get the date right overall. Ask about Ypres or Cambrai and I bet you'd get a blank expression.
