Wick v Linlithgow

The debacle angered Linlithgow secretary Jim Harkins, who said: We asked Wick for an inspection on Friday before we left for our overnight stay at Brora which cost us in excess of £3000 and they looked at the park at 1.30pm saying it was playable. However, that came from their groundsman. We asked the SFA for clarification and they sent a referee for a 3.30pm inspection and he deemed it doubtful but playable.

When we arrived at the ground on Saturday, it was plainly obvious the pitch couldnt have been playable on Friday never mind Saturday.

if the fans had known about the DOUBTFUL part they could have decided better to travel or not.but all we got was,Game on.

No it wasnt hence the discussion.

Ref inspects park and says doubtful and this was somehow translated to Wick being confident the game was on. There was no mention at all of the ref's concerns.

Yes, but apparently have been undergoing repair after damage (of course they usually cannot be used in Junior football). According to other threads they'll be repaired in time or temporary lights brought in.

Otherwise would be ~1:30pm kickoff.

Ridiculous statement auld heed and thought better.... Rules are rules whether clubs in competition like it or not. Should a rule be changed because the most northerly team in tournament canny play a home tie ? It's a total Feckn nightmare to get to but they themselves canny help it otherwise they'd have forfeited a long drive south in an earlier round :o

Similar to Lochee United vs Airdrie in 2008-09, postponed five or six times IIRC

Worth mentioning that the standard of the pitch is part of the licence. If Wick's pitch was poor they wouldn't have got it.

I pointed-out in another thread that Wick's ground has only suffered 1 other postponement this season, and 3 in the whole of last season.

Criticism or insinuations about their pitch are clearly unfounded. It's just bad luck that this tie has coincided with poor weather.
