BBC still going with the “protesters” line I see.

c***s.

This is the first paragraph of their main story.

A police office has been attacked and the property next to it set alight as protesters clashed with police in Sunderland during a demonstration linked to the Southport knife attack.

The ‘demonstration’ has nothing to do with the Southport knife attack.

What we need is this and lots more of it.

*Yes I accept this photo is a number of years old and although not technically the same knuckle draggers involved it is an image that makes me smile.

Would it have happened if the Southport knife attack had not occurred?

Aye.  They really do like to riot when it gets hot and humid.

Still, it was the reason they used this time so "linked" seems a valid term.

^^^ this.

The don’t need an excuse and if they think they do they’d quite easily find another one.

Ayup.  They normally do use a "reason" for a riot and they used the other city riots linked to the murders as an excuse for this one.

I think the link is fair enough to make in news coverage.

Of course this behaviour is disgusting in response to what happened in Southport.  It's sickening and indefensible as a response.

It is a response though, not one that can be morally or logically justified, but a reaction to Monday's events nonetheless.

Describing those involved as 'protesters' isn't right though.
