Anyone who doesn't think the left has a problem with antisemitism is living in cloud cuckoo land.

Left wing anti-Semitism is even more dangerous than its Nazi counterpart in some respects, for the simple fact that while Nazis are considered beyond the pale of what is accepted by civil society, left wing anti-Semitism is increasingly considered “legitimate” because it can hide behind the liberal beliefs of anti-Zionism. That's not say that anti-Zionists are antisemitic but that some who profess to be anti-Zionist are in fact anti-Semites abusing anti-Zionist beliefs.

It's a sad state of affairs when the right wing swivel eyed loonys have hijacked the Tories, then you look at the main UK opposition party and see Corbyn, McDonnel et al.

FFS ! What have we done to deserve this?

A ridiculous generalisation.  Are there folk who are or purport to be on the left of politics who are anti-Semitic?  Of course there are.  Is there a disproportionate or influential number of them?  I've certainly seen no evidence to back up such an assertion.

But of course whilst we're distracted by the accusation we are not discussing the suppression by one powerful group of another weak one.

Whats really dangerous, and unforgivable, is that whilst the world turned its back on Apartheid South Africa, most countries, including all the influential Western ones, are refusing to condemn the equivalent policies carried out in Israel and its surrounding areas.  Rather we recognise their "legitimacy" and even ignore their breaches of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty whilst condoning war like rhetoric by the US in their hypocrisy of other countries breaches of the same.

Apartheid South Africa was tolerated by the west for so long when it was politically expedient to do so. Israel is an incredibly useful ally in the Middle East and is backed up by a powerful lobby in the US so there's little impetus to challenge that. The Democrats are just as happy to shout down BDS campaigners and supply arms and funds to Israel.

https://antisemitism.uk/new-caa-research-shows-antisemitism-amongst-officials-in-labour-is-eight-times-worse-than-any-other-party/

Quote

Labour Party office holders account for 61% of the cases of alleged antisemitism, which is nearly eight times higher than the number of office holders in the second-placed parties.

80% of cases were in parties of the progressive left, namely Labour, the Greens, the SNP and the Liberal Democrats.

Repeat after me - there are none so openly bigoted than the modern 'Progressive'.

They've got a strange definition of antisemitism.

he Conservative Party is not immune from criticism, having failed to discipline a sitting MP who referred to the supposed “power of the Jewish lobby in America”.

You can easily make the argument that the left sees a higher proportion of anti-semitism accusations because its weaponised by the centre right. See: Stephen Daisley, Robbie Travers, Nick Cohen, Dan Hodges et al. These are the same people that called actual Jewish people like Sam Kriss an anti-Semite for criticising Israel. [emoji28]

What's strange about that? The claims that Jews secretly wield power is clearly antisemitic.

Isn't it only anti Semitic if there is no truth in it?

There has always been a strong Jewish lobby in America.

Hence the lack of criticism of any Israeli tactics no matter how barbaric.
